Publication number: 20180289480Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods for mitral valve repair. The devices and methods implant a plurality of distal anchors at an annulus of the mitral valve (e.g., the posterior annulus) and tension artificial chordae to pull the portion of the annulus toward an opposite edge and inward into the ventricle. This can effectively reduce the size of the orifice and increase coaptation. The anchor points of the artificial chordae can be offset from the apex of the heart to achieve a targeted force vector on the annulus. In addition, some embodiments include distal anchors implanted in the posterior leaflet in addition to those at the posterior annulus. This allows differential tensioning to be applied to provide for greater flexibility in treating various configurations of mitral valves to improve coaptation.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2018Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventors: Michael Nicholas D'ambra, Felino V. Publication number: 20180289482Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed for the treatment or repair of regurgitant cardiac valves, such as a mitral valve. An annuloplasty device can be placed in the coronary sinus to reshape the mitral valve and reduce mitral valve regurgitation. A protective device can be placed between the annuloplasty device and an underlying coronary artery to inhibit compression of the underlying coronary artery by the annuloplasty device in the coronary sinus. In addition, the protective device can inhibit compression of the coronary artery from inside the heart, such as from a prosthetic mitral valve that exerts radially outward pressure toward the coronary artery. The annuloplasty device can also create an artificial inner ridge or retaining feature projecting into the native mitral valve region to help secure a prosthetic mitral valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2018Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventors: June-Hong Kim, Robert J. The inter-body fusion device can have a first plate, a second plate, and an insert positioned substantially therebetween the first plate and the second plate. The first plate, the second plate, and the insert define an interior cavity. Publication number: 20180289518Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a helical anchor is provided in a relaxed state. During deployment, a distal portion of the helical anchor is superelastically deformed to protrude longitudinally. The longitudinally protruding distal portion of the helical anchor is longitudinally advanced to cause the distal portion to pierce a prosthesis and a vessel wall. The distal portion returns to the relaxed state after passing through the prosthesis and the vessel wall. By superelastically deforming the distal portion during deployment, it is easier to cause the anchor to penetrate the prosthesis and the vessel wall. Further, by having the anchor return to its relaxed state after passing through the prosthesis and vessel wall, better clamping of the prosthesis to the vessel wall is achieved.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2017Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventor: Travis Rowe

Publication number: 20180289522Abstract: The present disclosure describes soft-robotic wearable devices to treat and/or relieve Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, for example during typing assist applications. Soft actuators within the device adjust the angle of the wearer's wrist angle dynamically to achieve a neutral angle, alleviating the pressure on the median nerve and relieving Carpal Tunnel Syndrome strain.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2018Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventors: Mengjia Zhu, Wade Adams, Panagiotis Polygerinos

Publication number: 20180289525Abstract: A sling of a portable traction device cradles a user's head and includes a pair of shock cords attached at opposite ends of the sling. The ends of the shock cords opposite shock cords are anchored is anchored to a structure, such as a closed door at the hinged side of the door, between the door and door frame, using an anchor, at a height, to generate a tension vector at an acute angle relative to the floor. The tension applies cervical traction.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2018Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventor: Steven Sudell

Publication number: 20180289526Abstract: A calf brace for the treatment of MTSS (shin splints) and other conditions of the lower leg, including the foot, includes a strap arrangement that is used to locate pressure nodes that target specific areas of a wearer's calf muscle to facilitate release of the calf muscle. In one embodiment, the straps are anchored to a sleeve that can be pulled onto the wearer's calf muscle over the foot. Targeted zones may include the point on the calf where the soleus muscle attaches to the posterior head of the fibula, the point where the soleus muscle attaches to the middle third of the tibia; and the back of the calf at approximately the junction of the Achilles tendon and the triceps surae muscle. A compressive rod may also be aligned with approximately the distal one third of the medial border of the tibia where periosteal elevation and inflammation is thought to occur.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2016Publication date: October 11, 2018Inventors: William John McNamara, Rosa Marguerite Miller, Benjamin James Richard Lindsay
