Abstract: The present invention relates to a light source device and a measuring device which use a change in mode-locked resonated output light over time using a change in a cycle of an electrical signal corresponding to a change in the intensity of the output light according to a mode locking condition for each of different light paths in a resonator. The light source device includes an electrical signal generator configured to control the intensity of an optical signal from the light source device, and an optical gain unit controlled by periodic electrical signals having cycles calculated by dividing a round-trip time of photons corresponding to each of different light paths by an integer multiple. The intensity of the optical signal is controlled by the optical gain unit.

Abstract: The ROC value of a test surface is measured with a single spectrally-controlled interferometric measurement using a reference source of known ROC. The test surface is placed at the confocal position of the reference surface and the light source is modulated so as to produce localized interference fringes at the location of the test surface. The interference fringes are then processed with conventional interferometric analysis tools to establish the exact position of the test surface in relation to the reference surface, thereby determining the distance between the test surface and the reference surface. The radius of curvature of the test surface is obtained simply by subtracting such distance from the known radius of curvature of the reference surface.

  • Publication number: 20180306577
Abstract: A method obtains the shape of a target by projecting and recording images of dual frequency fringe patterns. Locations in each projector image plane are encoded into the patterns and projected onto die target while images are recorded. The resulting images show the patterns superimposed onto the target. The images are decoded to recover relative phase values for the patterns primary and dual frequencies. The relative phases are unwrapped into absolute phases and converted back to projector image plane locations. The relation between camera pixels and decoded projector locations is saved as a correspondence image representing the measured shape of the target. Correspondence images with a geometric triangulation method create a 3D model of the target. Dual frequency hinge patterns have a low frequency embedded into a high frequency sinusoidal, both frequencies are recovered in closed form by the decoding method, thus, enabling direct phase unwrapping.

The plurality of groove portions is configured to divide signal diffracted light and noise diffracted light into first splitted beams traveling at a predetermined travel angle and second splitted beams traveling at a travel angle greater than the travel angle of the first splitted beams, and make a diffraction efficiency of the first splitted beams of the noise diffracted light lower than a diffraction efficiency of the first splitted beams of the signal diffracted light.

Abstract: A sensing system includes a sensor assembly that is communicably connected to a computer system, such as a server or a cloud computing system. The sensor assembly includes a plurality of sensors that sense a variety of different physical phenomena. The sensor assembly featurizes the raw sensor data and transmits the featurized data to the computer system. Through machine learning, the computer system then trains a classifier to serve as a virtual sensor for an event that is correlated to the data from one or more sensor streams within the featurized sensor data. The virtual sensor can then subscribe to the relevant sensor feeds from the sensor assembly and monitor for subsequent occurrences of the event. Higher order virtual sensors can receive the outputs from lower order virtual sensors to infer nonbinary details about the environment in which the sensor assemblies are located.

Abstract: A fluid-flow measuring ball valve includes a housing and a ball having an orifice. The ball is moved between an open position allowing fluid flow through the orifice and a closed position preventing fluid flow. A first ultrasonic transducer is positioned in the housing upstream of the ball. A second ultrasonic transducer is positioned in the housing downstream of the ball and both are aligned to send and receive pulses. First and second acoustic reflectors are aligned with the transducers to transmit and reflect ultrasonic signals in at least one direction through the ball orifice when the ball is in an open position. The controller determines the fluid velocity based on measured speed of sound and calculates the volume of fluid through the orifice based on the measured fluid velocity and cross-sectional area.

When the conduit reaches target temperature, the heat source is deactivated and the cooling time for the conduit to return to its baseline temperature is measured. Fluid flow rate is determined from the cooling time, the temperature rise within a predetermined time, a temperature drop within a predetermined time, and/or a temperature gradient over time.
