  • Patent number: 10134182
Abstract: A large scale dense mapping technique utilizes range data that identifies points in three dimensions. The large scale dense mapping technique utilizes the range data obtained from range sensors coupled with a depth integration technique. After dividing the world, or a portion of the world, into cells and voxels, a mapping system collects range data for a portion of the environment. To speed up the processing involving the large number range measurements, Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) memory, can be used to store data relating to the mapping of the environment. Instead of storing all of the cells of volumetric representation in the memory, just the portion of the cells associated with the range data are stored within the memory. The mapping system can use an SDF or a TSDF based volumetric representation format to represent the environment. The SDF or TSDF based volumetric representation is updated using the range data.

  • Patent number: 10134187
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for rendering graphics in augmented reality software based on the movement of a device in relation to a target object, in order to produce more desired rendering effects. An augmented reality graphic can be both scaled and shifted laterally compared to the target based on a position of the device, and can then be cropped to match the target. Scaling and shifting related to movement parallel to the target can be performed using a first (parallel) function, and scaling and shifting related to movement toward and away from the target can be performed using a second (perpendicular) function. Both functions can be chosen to ensure that an edge of the augmented image is not passed over so as to provide blank space.

  • Patent number: 10134190
Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for rendering augmented reality objects based on user heights are provided. Height data of a user of an augmented reality device can be determined. The height data relates to a viewing perspective from an eye level of the user. Placement data for an augmented reality object is generated based on a constraint configuration that is associated with the augmented reality object for user-height-based rendering. The constraint configuration includes rules that support generating placement data for rendering augmented reality objects based on the user height data. The augmented reality object is rendered based on the placement data. Augmented reality objects are rendered in a real world scene, such that, the augmented reality object is personalized for each user during an augmented reality experience. In shared experiences, with multiple users viewing a single augmented reality object, the object can be rendered based on a particular user's height.
