Abstract: In multicolor Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering, a fingerprint region is a region densely filled with signals, and information about an intensity or spatial distribution of the signals is important for cell analysis. However, when laser power was increased due to the low signal intensity, there was a problem that cells were damaged. Thus, the present invention was configured such that the number of pulses of laser light emitted from a short pulse laser light source was changed by a pulse modulator. Accordingly, damage to the cells can be suppressed without significant reduction in signal intensity.

Abstract: The disclosed technology brings histopathology into the operating theatre, to enable real-time intra-operative digital pathology. The disclosed technology utilizes confocal imaging devices image, in the operating theatre, “optical slices” of fresh tissue—without the need to physically slice and otherwise process the resected tissue as required by frozen section analysis (FSA). The disclosed technology, in certain embodiments, includes a simple, operating-table-side digital histology scanner, with the capability of rapidly scanning all outer margins of a tissue sample (e.g., resection lump, removed tissue mass). Using point-scanning microscopy technology, the disclosed technology, in certain embodiments, precisely scans a thin “optical section” of the resected tissue, and sends the digital image to a pathologist rather than the real tissue, thereby providing the pathologist with the opportunity to analyze the tissue intra-operatively.

Abstract: A metrology apparatus (302) includes a higher harmonic generation (HHG) radiation source for generating (310) EUV radiation. Operation of the HHG source is monitored using a wavefront sensor (420) which comprises an aperture array (424, 702) and an image sensor (426). A grating (706) disperses the radiation passing through each aperture so that the image detector captures positions and intensities of higher diffraction orders for different spectral components and different locations across the beam. In this way, the wavefront sensor can be arranged to measure a wavefront tilt for multiple harmonics at each location in said array. In one embodiment, the apertures are divided into two subsets (A) and (B), the gratings (706) of each subset having a different direction of dispersion. The spectrally resolved wavefront information (430) is used in feedback control (432) to stabilize operation of the HGG source, and/or to improve accuracy of metrology results.

Abstract: This method for determining a mechanical property of a layered soft material, includes steps of a) generating an ultrasound wave (W1) focused towards a first point (P1) of the material, said wave, upon interacting with a layer of said material, generating in turn a Lamb (L1) wave propagating into said layer of the material, b) measuring, at a second point (P2) of the material belonging to said layer, a physical parameter of the generated Lamb wave, c) automatically determining the mechanical property of the layered soft material, based on the measured physical parameter. Step a) is performed by exciting a first ultrasonic transducer (401) with a first excitation signal (S401) during at most 50 ms, step b) is performed by exciting a second ultrasonic transducer (402) with a second excitation signal (S402) during at most 0.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method of determining the test surface profile and compensating the gain amplitude when using time reversal focal laws in ultrasound non-destructive testing. Computer simulations are used to compute the diffraction field at time of incidence of the transmitted parallel wave front on the test surface. Knowledge of the surface profile and the diffraction field allows determination of coverage at the test surface and improved accuracy of flaw sizing.

Abstract: Methods and systems disclosed herein use acoustic energy to determine a gap between a wafer and an integrated circuit (IC) processing system and/or determine a thickness of a material layer of the wafer during IC processing implemented by the IC processing system. An exemplary method includes emitting acoustic energy through a substrate and a material layer disposed thereover. The substrate is positioned within an IC processing system. The method further includes receiving reflected acoustic energy from a surface of the substrate and a surface of the material layer disposed thereover and converting the reflected acoustic energy into electrical signals. The electrical signals indicate a thickness of the material layer.
