Abstract: A truss connected to a structure via a fixed rod end attachment and at least one swing-link attachment. A first beam of the truss is connected to a frame member of the structure via a fixed rod end attachment, which locates the truss relative to the frame of the structure. Remaining beams of the truss to be connected to the frame of the structure are attached via swing-link attachments, which can pivot relative to the beam of the truss and the frame of the structure to allow relative movement between the beam and frame. The relative movement allows the structure to flex without imparting additional loads in the truss or the frame of the structure.

Abstract: A computing device obtains environmental data, capability data corresponding to a vehicle, and a readiness criteria specifying a maximum time to transition the vehicle from an idle state to an active state. The computing device determines an action that satisfies the readiness criteria and protects the vehicle from a forthcoming environmental condition indicated by the environmental data. In particular, determining the action is based on the environmental data, the capability data, and the readiness criteria. The computing device outputs a control signal, to an actuator, that controls the actuator to mechanically orient part of the vehicle and/or part of a structure in which the vehicle is located to at least partly implement the action.

Abstract: A method, vehicle, and system for calculating the location of a center of mass of the vehicle and transferring fuel to move the location of the center of mass are provided. The location of the center of mass of the vehicle is determined by measuring or calculating forces acting on the vehicle that counteract the gravitational forces on the vehicle. The location of the center of mass is calculated by determining on a moment arm of the gravitational force that counteracts the moment arms of the other forces acting on the vehicle. Fuel can be transferred among differently-located fuel tanks in the vehicle to move the location of the center of mass to a position in which at least some of the other forces acting on the vehicle are reduced, which may increase the speed and/or efficiency of the vehicle.

Abstract: The system is configured for automation of rotorcraft entry into autorotation. The system can provide a means to assist the flight crew of a rotorcraft in maintaining rotor speed following loss of engine power. The system can automatically adjust control positions, actuator positions or both to prevent excessive loss of rotor speed upon initial loss of engine power before the flight crew is able to react. The system uses model matching to provide axis decoupling and yaw anticipation; it includes pitch control initially to assist in preventing rotor deceleration; and it makes use of collective, pitch, roll and yaw trim functions to provide tactile cueing to the pilot to assist when the pilot is in the loop. The system can reduce workload by assisting the crew with controlling rotor speed and forward speed during stabilized autorotation.
