Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and device for cutting glass tubes with a length L from a glass tubing that moves at a feed rate v1. The glass tubing is investigated for defects with an analytical device. The analytical device determines whether a glass tube to be separated is either defect-free (case 1) or contains defects (case 2). In case 1, a defect-free glass tube of the length L is separated from the glass tubing. In case 2, the device and method of the present disclosure determines a distance LA in the lengthwise direction between the defect and a free end of the glass tube to be separated. The distance LA is determined from the portion of the defect at the greatest distance from the free end of the tube. Abstract: A lightweight building material is fabricated from paper mill sludge having about 50% water and 50% organic and inorganic materials, by taking the sludge, and drying the material in a super-heated steam bath and treating it with sodium silicate, which can be either powdered or liquid, to a selected end moisture content. Additional processing can be used at varying desired end moisture materials to create unique lightweight building aggregates from this waste source material.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing a reinforcement mesh. Here, a reinforcement fiber strand is firstly saturated with a resin (H) and cured to form a cured, fiber-reinforced strand material. The strand material present as an endless material is then cut lengthwise into bars, which are then used as longitudinal bars or transverse bars for forming the reinforcement mesh. A connecting material is used at each intersection point between a longitudinal bar and a transverse bar and is dispensed in liquid form at the intersection point or is liquefied and then cured at the intersection point. A fixed connection is thus created between the longitudinal bars and the transverse bars at the intersection points. Between the intersection points, the longitudinal bars and the transverse bars have portions that are free of connecting material.

Abstract: The present invention provides an admixture composition comprising a liquid suspension of colloidal silica, siloxane, and polycarboxylate polymer cement dispersant for enhancing early age strength, finishability, and other properties in hydratable cementitious compositions such as concrete (e.g., shotcrete). An inventive method involves mixing the components together in a specific sequence, thereby to obtain a stable liquid suspension. This attainment of a stable liquid suspension is surprising and unexpected because (i) the polycarboxylate polymer cement dispersant and siloxane components are incompatible and immiscible with one another; and (ii) that colloidal silica and siloxane compound are incompatible and immiscible with one another.
