  • Patent number: 10271966
Abstract: A body-powered articulated prosthetic hand where each of the segments of the digits, the palmer plate, the thumb pivot plate and the wrist are individually sizeable. This allows for both a proportionately scalable hand as well as individual customization of geometric configurations tailored to specific use patterns. The hand is crushable since it has flexible and pivotable connections between digits along the length and width of the hand. It has a hollow member construction that imparts a strong lightweight design. It is modular so individual parts can be replaced for quick repair. From an aesthetics point, it is visually pleasing and can be offered in different colors, and with custom digit sleeves for specific applications. Fingers can be operated individually or in groups via pairs of cables which allow operation in either voluntary open or voluntary closed modes of control.

  • Patent number: 10271973
Abstract: A plaque tack can be used for holding plaque against blood vessel walls such as in treating atherosclerotic occlusive disease. The plaque tack can be formed as a thin, annular band for holding loose plaque under a spring or other expansion force against a blood vessel wall. Focal elevating elements and/or other features, such as anchors, can be used to exert a holding force on a plaque position while minimizing the amount of material surface area in contact with the plaque or blood vessel wall and reducing the potential of friction with the endoluminal surface. This approach offers clinicians the ability to perform a minimally invasive post-angioplasty treatment and produce a stent-like result without using a stent.

  • Patent number: 10271990
Abstract: A treatment device for the surgical correction of defective vision in an eye. The device includes a laser apparatus controlled by a controller. The controller determines a desired correction of defective vision from measurement data of the eye to produce control data for the laser, and to control the laser to emit radiation according to the control data, such that a lenticule-shaped volume is isolated in the cornea. The controller computes a lenticule-shaped intended volume, the removal of which from the cornea leads to an actual correction of defective vision in an optical zone in the eye which differs from the desired correction more at the edge of the optical zone than at the center of the optical zone. The thickness of the lenticule-shaped intended volume is less than the thickness of a lenticule-shaped comparison volume, the removal of which would bring about the desired correction of defective vision.

  • Patent number: 10272013
Abstract: A CPR feedback system, software and methods are provided. A top height sensor can be used to track the height of the patient's chest during the CPR chest compressions, by detecting a top aspect of its location. A depth module may generate, from a detected top aspect, a depth value for a depth reached by a current compression. A counter may determine a compressions number, e.g. for the current compression. A memory may store a depth variable that can return different target values for the target depths of individual compressions. A user interface has an output device that may output an indication for the rescuer, which reflects how well the depth value of the current compression matched a corresponding target value for it. The target values may be set so as to follow a preset profile, or change according to optional measurements of force and other parameters.
