Abstract: A lid 12 of a juicer provides several important functions. It prevents juice from escaping, it diverts pulp efficiently toward a collector 13 or chute 150, it cooperates with a locking bar to keep the device safe and closed and it provides a platform for the feed tube. The lid 12 comprises a polymeric cap 52 (for example a polycarbonate) to which is secured a metal, preferably stainless steel feed tube 51. Importantly the combination of clear cap 52 and steel feed tube provides all of the advantages of both, that is, adequate strength in the feed tube and knife and the ability to see under the cap.

Abstract: Particulate formulations containing one or more micronutrients such as iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate, fat or oil soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D, and E, water soluble vitamins such as B vitamin family, and other micronutrients have been developed. These formulations resist oxidation and loss of bioactivity during processing, storage and cooking. The particles include one or more enteric polymers such as pH-sensitive polymers. To prevent oxidation, the iron supplements are encapsulated by a polymer such as hyaluronic acid (“HA”), preferably in a ratio of iron:HA of between 1:4 and 1:10), or mixed with a compound such as vitamin C. The resulting mixture is then dispersed in a solution of a enteric polymer, and manufactured using techniques such as spray drying or spinning disc atomization into particles into particles.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for vaporizing concentrate that will substantially eliminate general or localized burning of concentrate during the vaporization process and a device adapted for carrying out said method. The vaporization method is based on heating concentrate that has been absorbed into a frit, preferably fitted glass. Fritted glass is characterized by open-pore interstices that allow free passage of fluid through the frit. It is commonly used as a filtering element, particularly in high-temperature applications. It was discovered that concentrate placed in contact with fitted glass is absorbed through capillary action. Although room temperature concentrate may not readily seep fully into fritted glass, as concentrate is heated its viscosity is reduced such that it is readily absorbed by the fitted glass.

Abstract: A method of forming a fiber reinforced plate for an article of footwear is described. The method includes embroidering a reinforcing strand to a substrate layer with a thread according to a strand configuration. One or more substrate layers with strand configurations are arranged relative to a base plate. The one or more substrate layers are bonded to the base plate to form the fiber reinforced plate. The reinforcing strands may be formed of a heat fusible material so that adjacent segments of the strands bond to one another and/or the substrate layer. Various strand configurations of reinforcing strands embroidered to substrate layers are described. Multiple substrate layers with different strand configurations can be bonded together with a base plate to form a fiber reinforced plate with reinforcement at selected locations based on the strand configurations.

Abstract: A shoe includes an outsole having a room defined in the top thereof. A vamp is connected to the peripheral wall of the room. An air pad and an insole are located in the room. The air pad includes a front pad and a rear pad. A tube is connected between the front and rear pads. The front pad includes an inflatable support portion and a resilient support section which is located at the front portion of the front pad. The resilient support section has multiple buffering portions. A plate is located on the front pad and between the inflatable support portion and the insole. The plate restricts the deformation area on the inflatable support portion to deform the insole.

Abstract: A footwear insole shape is generated by supplying a core reinforced filament having a matrix material impregnating reinforcing strands aligned along the filament, as well as a fill material separately from the core reinforced filament and depositing at least one shell of fill material within an insole shape upon a print bed. The core reinforced filament is deposited to fuse to the fill material within a first reinforcing region formed with respect to the insole shape. A cutter upstream of the nozzle tip cuts the core reinforced filament, and a remainder of the core reinforced filament is deposited to complete the first reinforcing region. A nozzle tip applies pressure to continuously compact the core reinforced filament toward the insole shape as the core reinforced filament is fused to the fill material.

Abstract: Articles of footwear may include selectively engageable traction elements that engage with a surface or the ground during certain activities and do not engage with the surface or the ground during other activities. The selectively engageable traction elements are caused to engage with the ground or surface when a portion of the footwear is flexed. When the footwear is in its unflexed position, the selectively engageable traction elements may not engage with the ground or surface. Selectively engageable traction elements may be desired or may be useful during particular, targeted movements such as sharp turns, pivoting, sudden or abrupt starting and stopping motions, and the like and in changing environmental conditions, such as on various surfaces having different characteristics. Wearers of such footwear may benefit from the extra traction provided by the selectively engageable traction elements when performing the targeted movements and/or when wearing the footwear on surfaces with varying conditions.
