  • Patent number: 10352046
Abstract: A self-centring compact coupler for lifting, jacking or pushing apart and positioning concrete elements via their reinforcement bars (rebar) having an adjusting coupler member screwed on a threaded post attached to one rebar to apply a lifting or pushing force against a non-adjustable seating stud with an integral seating head and centring protrusion fixed to a corresponding and opposite rebar. An enclosing coupler member is screwed on the adjusting coupler member to enclose and lock the seating head and couple the rebar. The unitary configuration of the seating stud and seating head reduces the number of parts. The centring facility negates need of large internal tolerances to accommodate rebar misalignment, thus substantially ensuring co axial transfer of force from the coupler to the rebar. The coupler is used to incrementally vary and accurately adjust the relative positions of the concrete elements to one another in the building process.

  • Patent number: 10352047
Abstract: Leaks in a roof membrane are detected in plurality of separate zones arranged in rows and columns. By applying to the roof in a location underneath the membrane and on top of the deck in each zone at least one length of a moisture detection sensor comprising a substrate carrying two parallel conductors on one surface of the substrate detecting changes in resistance between the conductors so as to detect moisture permeating into the respective zone. The moisture detecting sensors are separate in each zone so as to detect changes in resistance in the respective zone independent of any changes in resistance in other zones so that the system can detect within the rows and columns any zone where changes in resistance occur. In order to detect across the zone, the sensor is applied in a two dimensional pattern for example by two lengths at right angles.

  • Patent number: 10352048
Abstract: A roof load support structure supports a load on a sloping metal panel roof such that substantially all of the load is conveyed through rails, which are mounted on roof panel ribs, then through the roof panel ribs, and to underlying building support structure. Minor portions of the load can be conveyed through an upper diverter and a lower closure. The upper diverter diverts water laterally away from the support structure, in two opposing directions to two opposing sides of the support structure. The support structure spans at least first and second ones of the roof panels. Cut, terminal ends of an intermediate rib are cantilevered from purlins immediately above and below the support structure, and thus support middle portions of the upper diverter and the lower closure.

  • Patent number: 10352058
Abstract: A rigid substructure (12) tied to a restrained column (16) at different floors undergoes rigid body rotation due to lateral dynamic loading. Flexural members (18) that are connected to the substructure (12) and another anchor column (14) resist the rigid body rotation and undergo vertical deflections. Damped diagonals (20) connected to common nodes of the rigid substructure and flexural members, for one embodiment, receive amplified displacements and more effectively dissipate energy. Flexural members restore the structure to the unloaded position. The system does not require moment connections and can work with flexure induced in simply supported beams. The system is highly effective and may remain elastic under maximum considered earthquake ground motions.

  • Patent number: 10352070
Abstract: A closure latch for a vehicle door is provided. The closure latch includes an emergency lock actuator to permit a person to lock the door in the event that the power lock actuator is unusable. The latch also includes an ‘impatient passenger’ feature, which permits the doors to be unlocked using the remote keyless-entry feature on the key fob even in a situation where an ‘impatient passenger’ had prematurely lifted the door handle of the vehicle. In some prior art latches, such an action by an ‘impatient passenger’ would prevent the drive motor on the latch from unlocking the latch, thereby necessitating the owner to press the unlock button on the key fob a second time. There is some overlap in the components that used for the ‘impatient passenger’ feature and the components used for the emergency lock actuator, thereby reducing cost and complexity of the latch.

  • Patent number: 10352074
Abstract: A blowout latch includes a rotatable bolt that secures a first panel that is adjacent to a second panel to which the latch is affixed. The bolt is restrained by a toggle linkage that operates at one end of the bolt against a pressure-actuated spring. The linkage will release the bolt when an excessive opening force against the bolt exceeds a selected restraining force of the spring. When that condition occurs, the linkage will have deflected the spring and moved to a position where the end of the linkage bearing against spring loses it mechanical leverage with respect to the bolt. Thereafter, the bolt is free to continue rotation to a fully open position. The latch also includes a manual trigger release that disables the restraining linkage and permits free rotation of the bolt to the fully open position when this trigger is actuated.

Abstract: An escape system for a sinking car and an optoelectronic component thereof are disclosed. The optoelectronic component includes a housing and an optoelectronic module. The escape system for a sinking car includes an optoelectronic component and a motherboard. A lighting unit of the escape system for a sinking car and an optoelectronic component thereof is installed on a car to emit light. After the car fell into water, by the characteristic that when light passes through a medium, the attenuation in light energy can be detected effectively because light is absorbed by that medium (such as liquid), the car sinking signal can be received and transmitted quickly, thereby actually taking the opportunities of rescue to reduce casualties.

Abstract: A method for controlling barrier door is disclosed. The method includes following steps of: monitoring a barrier door (20) for generating multiple monitor images continually via a monitoring camera (104); recognizing a barrier door feature pattern (30-34) arranged on the barrier door (20) from the monitor images and determining a shade status of the barrier door feature pattern (30-34); recognizing a movement feature pattern arranged on a movable object from the monitor images and determining a movement direction of the movement feature pattern continuously; controlling the barrier door (20) to open when the shade status is consistent with a default shade status, the movement direction is consistent with a default movement direction, and the barrier door (20) is closed. Therefore, the barrier door can automatically and timely open without arranging the RFID reader, so as to provide the user the batter convenience.

  • Patent number: 10352089
Abstract: A jack screw-type fastener with a head defining an interior aperture with a Phillips pattern in the top and in communication with a central channel sized and shaped to receive a fastener therethrough for structurally reinforcing the window jamb of a window frame. The jamb adjuster includes a series of oversized and narrowly oriented threads relative to commercially available threaded fasteners (about 50% larger than average), frictionally engaging a greater ratio of the window frame wall depth than conventional. In use, the jamb adjuster is a self-tapping screw member that renders unnecessary a receiver, reducing component cost and structural degradation, and instead displacing a portion of the window frame material, for example vinyl, during insertion, causing a more structurally secure attachment to the window frame. The jamb adjuster also provides a more robust attachment mechanism for vital weather stripping than other fasteners or adhesive as known in the art.
