Abstract: A sports ball rebounder net has a rebound surface positioned and angled to receive balls and to return or propel those projected balls back to the athlete. The net frame has brackets extending from the rear of each vertical post. The brackets each have an arcuate hole at a first radial distance from a center of rotation, and a series of spaced apart holes along an arc located at a second distance from the center of rotation. One arm of the back support is connected to the first bracket and a second arm connected to the second bracket, each at the respective centers of rotation. The angular position of the back support in respect of the net frame is adjusted by pulling a cord that is attached at each end to a respective plunger associated with each arm of the back support, each of which has a pin that is retracted upon pulling the cord. The respective pins of the plungers mate with one of each series of holes through the bracket attached to the net frame.

Abstract: An automatic judging and display system for rock climbing competition includes a rock climbing wall with a plurality of spaced apart holds secured thereto. One set of holds is associated with a first color and another set of holds is associated with a different color. An RFID tag is located on the wall immediately beneath each hold and uniquely identifies that hold. The climber carries an RFID tag reader on his or her wrist which wirelessly transmits information to a computer system which then analyzes and records the signal and sends it to a display mounted adjacent the top of the wall to be viewed by spectators.

Abstract: The two-part system includes a modified hockey puck and a set of goal units that can be mounted on a hockey goal. Within the puck are light sources, motion sensors, infrared transmitters, and a power source. Within the goal units are light sources, infrared sensors, and a microcontroller. When the goal units are mounted on the hockey goal, the infrared sensors form a detection area through which the puck must pass in order to count as a goal. The infrared transmitter of the puck and the infrared sensors of the goal units communicate with one another, and when an infrared signal is received the microcontroller triggers the light sources mounted to the goal to illuminate and indicate that a goal has been scored. Additionally, both the puck and the goal units are designed to reduce power consumption by switching between a low-energy mode or an active mode of operation.

Abstract: Rate of deceleration is an important factor in determining the severity of injuries possibly sustained when participants collide with a wall assembly while playing, for example, ice hockey. Decreasing the rate of deceleration of the participant during such a collision with a wall assembly, by extending the distance over which a participant decelerates, is a key factor in reducing head and spinal injuries. The present disclosure provides apparatuses for decreasing the rate of deceleration by providing a wall assembly having a moveable piece that includes a first position and a plurality of second positions with a bias of the moveable piece to the first position. The movable wall assembly can move independently of a support frame, thereby further decreasing the rate of deceleration of a participant in a collision. The movable wall assembly can be supported on a base and slidable with respect to the base.

Abstract: A system and method for operation of a game in which teams of players attempt to negotiate through a track of rooms, or several tracts of rooms. Teams attempt to progress through the track by solving problems presented in each room thereby earning access to a following room, until the team completes a track comprising several rooms. A control system is operable to control flow of teams from room to room, and to control presentation of problem solving activities to the teams, and to interpret data from the rooms to assess the performance of the team, and grant access to a following room or to bar access to a following room and/or eject the team from the room to start over on the track.

Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for determining an identity of an interchangeable overlay adjacent to a detection mat of a floor-based game management apparatus and detecting foot-based user input via an array of sensors distributed across a surface of the detection mat. Additionally, game-related user feedback may be output via one or more speakers of the floor-based game management apparatus based at least in part on the foot-based user input and the identity of the interchangeable overlay. In one example, at least a portion of the game-related user feedback is output via an array of light sources distributed across the surface of the detection mat.

Under certain circumstances, the user is provided with an option to participate in the additional stage of the plurality of stages in exchange for the user not receiving the reward, the additional stage of the plurality of stages being associated with an additional reward, the additional reward being greater than the reward.

Abstract: An interactive treasure hunt game is provided. Game participants receive a card, map and/or identification badge configured with an RFID tag, bar-code or a magnetic “swipe” strip or the like. The RFID tag or other identifying device is used to store certain information identifying each play participant and/or describing certain powers or abilities possessed by an imaginary character that the card may represent. Players advance in the game by finding clues and solving various puzzles presented by the game. Players may also gain (or lose) certain attributes, such as magic skills, magic strength, fighting ability, various spell-casting abilities, etc. All of this information is preferably stored on the RFID tag or card so that the character attributes may be easily and conveniently transported to other similarly-equipped play facilities, computer games, video games, home game consoles, hand-held game units, and the like.

Abstract: A computer application in accordance with the present invention involves an interaction between a music streaming media service, a plurality of users of mobile devices, and a host mobile device. In this combination, the host sets up and controls a game wherein users interact with the music streaming media service. Playing the game requires setting a predetermined number of rounds, with each round containing music tracks from a same music genre. Users then select their favorite music track in the round, and vote on the music tracks of other users in the round, as they are played. Each user vote is weighted according to the like/dislike perception of the user, and scores for each user's favorite are tallied for the round. There can be several rounds in a game, and the user whose favorites get the most votes wins.

The separator produces a first flow including a vaporized portion of a solvent from the solution and a second flow including a liquid portion of the solvent and a solute from the solution.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed toward a novel pressurized vapor cycle for distilling liquids. In some embodiments of the invention, a liquid purification system is revealed, including the elements of an input for receiving untreated liquid, a vaporizer coupled to the input for transforming the liquid to vapor, a head chamber for collecting the vapor, a vapor pump with an internal drive shaft and an eccentric rotor with a rotatable housing for compressing vapor, and a condenser in communication with the vapor pump for transforming the compressed vapor into a distilled product. Other embodiments of the invention are directed toward heat management, and other process enhancements for making the system especially efficient.

Abstract: A method for removing contaminants such as pesticides and fungicides from cannabinoid extracts. Cannabinoid extracts containing contaminants may be dissolved in a water and ethanol solution, and then cooled to allow water-soluble contaminants to settle out of the mixture. The water and ethanol may then be removed via evaporation or distillation, leaving purified cannabinoids without contaminants. Contaminant removal may be incorporated into a method for producing a blended extract of cannabinoids and terpenes, which extracts terpenes using supercritical CO2, and extracts a cannabinoid concentrate from the residual material using a cold ethanol flush followed by distillation and then by contaminant removal; the CO2-extracted terpenes are then added back to the purified cannabinoid concentrate in a final blending step. Blending terpenes at the end of extraction may enhance the flavor and effectiveness of the purified cannabinoid concentrate.

Abstract: Process for separating a highly pure propylene product from a liquefied petroleum gas stream is disclosed, which eliminates a C3 splitter having over 120 trays and the additional equipment that a C3 splitter requires. The process includes passing a feed stream to a dividing wall column to produce an overhead stream, a first side draw stream, a second side draw stream, and a product stream. The first side draw stream is passed to a treatment unit to produce a treated stream. The treated stream is passed to a membrane unit and a permeate stream is passed from the membrane unit to produce a polymer grade propylene stream.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a humidification-dehumidification desalination system. A humidification subsystem of the humidification-dehumidification desalination system includes a thermal element and a bubble column, in series. The thermal element further comprises a thermal energy storage unit including a phase change material and a thermal conductor. The thermal element can be supplemented by a Fresnel lens canopy. The thermal element and the bubble column of the humidification design are arranged in staircase design such that gravity drives the system.

Abstract: The described air-oil separation apparatus for an oil system of a gas turbine engine includes an oil tank having an oil impingement surface disposed on a tank bottom proximate an oil tank outlet and a centrifugal air-oil separator mounted within the oil tank. The centrifugal air-oil separator has an oil outlet that feeds an impingement nozzle having an outlet oriented, in operation, to eject an oil jet from the centrifugal air-oil separator to impinge the oil impingement surface at an intersection point spaced apart from the oil tank outlet.

Abstract: A device to extract a near continuous stream of sample water from a high solids content source for the purpose of delivery to a liquid analyzer or sensor for test or measurement. The device includes a source of compressed air and a source of chemical cleaning agent that are used in a coordinated effort to purge and clean the sampling system to ensure the water stream is maintained over long periods of time without significant human intervention. The device includes a valve to allow compressed air to intermittently be sent backwards through the sampling line to purge to drain an inline strainer of solids that have built up since the previous air purge. Downstream of the air valve another valve is used to introduce cleaning chemical into the sampling system to clean residual buildup downstream of the inline strainer. A debubbler unit is placed between the air valve and the cleaning chemical valve to remove air from the sampling system after it was introduced during the air purge event.

Abstract: A system and process for recycling machining waste into a solid/scrap material component and a recyclable machining coolant. The system and process comprise collecting the waste machining waste and mechanically separating the machining waste into a solid/scrap material component and a machining waste liquid component. The machining waste liquid component is decanted to separate oils and solids from the recyclable machining coolant. The machine recyclable machining coolant is then filtered through at least a first filter and preferably a second, finer mesh filter. The recyclable machining coolant is then exposed to UV light to kill bacteria and microorganisms. Lastly, ultrapure water is added to dilute the recyclable machining coolant and form the recycled machining coolant. If desired, a virgin machining coolant can be added to the recycled machining coolant, to replenish any additive(s) stripped during the recycling process, prior to resale of the recycled machining coolant.
