Abstract: A patient monitoring system is provided. A sensor is attached to a subject. A processor acquires physiological information of the subject, and detects an occurrence of an event. A communication interface is wirelessly communicable with a remote device through a communication network. When the processor detects an occurrence of the event, a power supplying member supplies a first electric power that is necessary for transmission of physiological information to the remote device, to the communication interface. When an occurrence of the event is not detected, the power supplying member supplies a second electric power that is lower than the first electric power, to the communication interface.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems are provided for quantitative hemodynamic flow analysis, which involves retrieving patient specific image data. A 3D reconstruction of a vessel of interest can be created from the patient specific image data. Geometric information can be extracted from the 3D reconstruction. A lesion position can be determined. Patient specific data can be obtained. Hemodynamic results can be calculated based on the geometric information, the lesion position and the patient specific data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of automatically locating in an image of a blood vessel the lumen boundary at a position in the vessel and from that measuring the diameter of the vessel. From the diameter of the vessel and estimated blood flow rate, a number of clinically significant physiological parameters are then determined and various user displays of interest generated. One use of these images and parameters is to aid the clinician in the placement of a stent. The system, in one embodiment, uses these measurements to allow the clinician to simulate the placement of a stent and to determine the effect of the placement. In addition, from these patient parameters various patient treatments are then performed.

Abstract: A gatekeeper electronic signal can be generated by a patient sensor and/or in an intermediate device, such as an electrical cable, that is separate from a patient's physiological information electronic signal. The gatekeeper signal can be generated to indicate to a computer monitor that the sensor and/or cable is of the type that is compatible with, and/or usable with, such computer monitor, and/or that the sensor and/or cable is properly attached to the computer monitor. The gatekeeper signal can be created by an ambient temperature sensor on, or in electrical communication with, the patient monitor, and/or the gatekeeper signal can be created by a gatekeeper electronic signal generator to simulate an ambient temperature value. The gatekeeper signal can be separate from an electronic signal or plurality of signals that include patient physiological information, and the gatekeeper signal may not include any patient physiological information.

The optical detector detects scattered light from the region, the scattered light corresponding to the irradiation light. The controller causes first irradiation light of a first intensity and second irradiation light of a second intensity lower than the first intensity to be emitted from the optical emitter. The controller detects a predetermined signal on the basis of first scattered light detected by the optical detector in accordance with the first irradiation light and second scattered light detected by the optical detector in accordance with the second irradiation light.
