Abstract: Suspension of proppants in hydraulic fracturing applications can be strongly affected by the cross-sectional shapes and lengths of the fibers present in the wellbore treatment compositions. For instance, it has been observed that crimped cellulose ester fibers with a trilobal cross-section and an optimized length can provide enhanced suspension of proppants in aqueous fracturing fluids. Furthermore, the present invention demonstrates that non-round cellulose ester fibers can provide superior proppant suspension properties relative to polylactic acid fibers with a round cross-section.

Abstract: Synergistic surfactant blends are disclosed. In one aspect, the blend comprises an anionic surfactant and a metathesis-based cationic surfactant comprising a quaternized derivative. The quaternized derivative is a quaternized fatty amine, quaternized fatty amidoamine, imidazoline quat, or esteramine quat made from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid or its ester derivative. Also disclosed are synergistic surfactant blends comprising a cationic surfactant and a metathesis-based anionic surfactant comprising a sulfonated derivative. The sulfonated derivative is a fatty ester sulfonate, fatty acid sulfonate, sulfoestolide, fatty amide sulfonate, sulfonated fatty ester alkoxylate, imidazoline quat sulfonate, sulfonated amidoamine oxide, or sulfonated amidoamine betaine. The synergistic blends have a negative ? value or a reduced interfacial tension (IFT) when compared with an expected IFT value calculated from the individual surfactant components.

Abstract: Described are compositions and methods relating to delayed release enzyme formulations for bleach-containing detergents, and methods of use, thereof. The formulations are designed to promote the rapid release of a bleaching agent into a wash liquor and the delayed release of a protease, to reduce the undesirable effect that high concentrations of bleach have on protease activity. The compositions and methods have applications in, e.g., laundry and dishwashing.

Abstract: A conductive aqueous solution production device 1 has an ion exchange device 2 mounted on the way of the main pipe 11 supplying ultrapure water W as raw water, a supply pipe 12 which joins the main pipe 11 on the downstream side of the ion exchange device 2, and a conductivity-imparting substance supply device 3. For example, if the conductivity-imparting substance is ammonia, since the ions are cations, that is, ammonium ions (NH4+), it is preferable that an ion exchanger which fills the ion exchange device 2 be a cation exchange resin. If the conductivity-imparting substance is carbon dioxide, the ions are anions, that is, bicarbonate ions (HCO3?) or carbonate ions (CO32?), and therefore it is preferable that the ion exchange device 2 be filled with an anion exchange resin. Such a conductive aqueous solution production device is capable of producing a conductive aqueous solution with a stable concentration, and achieves excellent follow-up performance with respect to a change in concentration.

Abstract: A micellar compositions including oil-soluble surfactants delivered by water-soluble surfactants are disclosed. The micellar compositions demonstrate enhanced crude oil mobilization in porous media. When the porous media was imbued with crude oil, the presence of the surfactant in the oil phase improved the mobilization performance of crude oil. Solutions of SDS were used to solubilize the surfactant, and the formation of SDS/PIBSI micellar composition was confirmed by Cryo-SEM images. High cleaning effectiveness of the micellar compositions on crude oil entrapped in porous media was demonstrated by image binarization.
