Abstract: Aspects herein relate to a waistband construct designed to provide support to a torso area of a wearer and more specifically, a mid to lower torso area of a human wearer, (i.e. a pelvic area of a wearer.) The waistband construct in accordance herein may have a multiple modulus of elasticity construction with at least one variation in modulus of elasticity along a circumference of the waistband construct. For example, the waistband construct in accordance with aspects herein may have a first portion having a first modulus of elasticity and a second portion having a second modulus of elasticity, where at least the portion having the higher modulus of elasticity may have a multiple layer construction for providing an effective support mechanism to at least a portion of the mid to lower torso area of the wearer.

Abstract: An undergarment such as a bra has very sheer sleeves such that the sleeves are virtually invisible. The sheer sleeves are also elasticized, for example, made of nylon and spandex, to provide compressive support to the wearer's arms. The sheer sleeves may have a color that matches one of several different skin tones.

Abstract: In order to increase the effectiveness and popularity of the kangaroo care method (skin-to-skin and breastfeeding with newborn baby) in developing countries, especially in order to save and protect weakened babies, the present invention relates to a straightforward, inexpensive solution for facilitating and encouraging this practice; a light, soft, comfortable, flexible garment that allows a baby to be held in a skin-to-skin manner for a long period of time, safely and leaving the hands free, thanks to a built-in, seamless seat, inter alia. As the garment can be used as an undergarment and is one-size-fits-all, it is easier for humanitarian and medical organizations to distribute, and more acceptable according to the cultural and religious criteria governing dress in most developing countries.

Abstract: Swimsuits are provided which include an outer shell made of a flexible stretchable fabric, a thoracic reinforced region arranged in an anterior thoracic region of a trunk portion of the swimsuit and having an anterior-downward converging shape, and an abdominal reinforced region arranged in a lower abdominal and hip region of the trunk portion and having an anterior-upward converging shape, two non-reinforced waist regions arranged in opposite lateral waist regions of the trunk portion and having both a medially converging shape, wherein the thoracic reinforced region, the abdominal reinforced region and the non-reinforced regions border in an X pattern in an anterior region of the trunk portion. Methods of making such swimsuits are also provided.

Abstract: A system includes an article of clothing, a pull cord, and a quick-release fastener. The article of clothing defines a shoulder region having a conduit. The pull cord is movably-supported upon the shoulder region. The quick-release fastener includes a peelable portion directly connected to a peelable end of the pull cord and a fixed portion directly connected to the shoulder region of the article of clothing. Another system includes a vest having a shoulder region and a waist region. A first quick-release assembly is arranged upon the shoulder region of the vest, and a second quick-release assembly arranged upon the waist region of the vest.

Abstract: A pleated spray tan mask and method of donning is donned and attached around the face, so as to protect a user from inhaling undesired airborne particles or vapor while being spray tanned with tanning composition, and also to prevent tanning composition from coating the face. The mask comprises three panels that cover a portion of the face and perform independent functions for protecting against sprayed tanning compositions. The mask provides a forehead panel and a lower face panel that are pleated to increase in size for larger heads. Pleats allow the mask to be one-size-fits-all. Another unique feature of the forehead and lower face panels is that flaps form at the edges of the individual panels. Flaps fold inwardly and enhance airflow behind the panels. Further, a mid-face panel disposed between the forehead and lower face panels is at least partially transparent to enable visibility while being spray tanned.

The safety helmet has a plurality of lights which are operatively connected to a power supply; at least one motion sensor which detects a behavioural characteristic of the cyclist and provides input signals to a controller, the controller operates in accordance with an algorithm whereby the signals are processed to determine appropriate timing of activation of the lights, in dependence upon the behavioural characteristic detected; and wherein switching signals from the controller switch on the lights to indicate actual or intended direction of travel.

Methods and apparatus for a head covering may comprise a base configured to fit around a wearer's head, a sidewall comprising a plurality of open cells configured to prevent light rays at or above a predetermined angle relative to the passageway of each cell from passing unobstructed through the cell, and a crown configured to close of the interior surface of the sidewall. The minimum depth of each cell may be determined based on the height of the cell, the angle at or above which the light rays are to obstructed, and the angle of the exterior cell opening. The cells may be arranged in the sidewall such that the lower surface of the passageway of each cell is substantially at the same angle with respect to a horizontal plane.

When needed, the knife is rotated within the sheath to facilitate release thereof from a lock that is integral with the sheath. Once removed from the sheath, the knife can be used for self-defense, cutting rope or cord in an emergency situation, or for general utility cutting tasks.

Abstract: The illuminated safety cane is a walking cane comprising a handle and a shaft. The shaft is a rigid cylinder with a plurality of apertures covered by a plurality of windows through which a plurality of lights may provide illumination. The plurality of lights may be white, yellow, or red LEDs mounted onto one or more circuit boards located within the shaft. The white lights may provide illumination, the yellow lights may provide cautionary warnings, and the red light may indicate danger or distress. The lights may be illuminated individually or in groups through user activation of an operator control located on the handle. The handle provides a grasping point for the cane and encloses one or more batteries, the operator control, and an audible panic alarm.

The hub has a plurality of spring receptacles, and a plurality of springs, with each spring having a coiled portion, a lower anchoring portion, and an upper anchoring portion. The device includes a first panel, a second panel, a third panel, a pair of thumb screws and a panel closure member. The first panel is hinged to the second panel. The second panel is hinged to the third panel. The first and second panels create a retaining space for a backpack strap. The second and third panels create a retaining space for an umbrella pole. The thumb screws are hinge and tightened to secure a backpack strap. The second and third panels are held together by the panel closure member which is attached by a hinge to the first panel. A preferred embodiment includes rubber cushion members to securely hold umbrella poles of varying diameters.

A plurality of vertical grooves is disposed in the outer periphery and is configured to receive umbrella ribs or struts. A plurality of grooves extends transverse to the vertical grooves. A retention member is disposed in each of the transverse grooves. A first configuration of the hub permits deflection of the retention member such that a transverse pin coupled with the umbrella ribs or struts can be inserted into the transverse groove in which the retention member is disposed. A second configuration of the hub prevents deflection of the retention member such that inadvertent withdrawal of the pin from the transverse groove in which the retention member is disposed is prevented.
