The self-healing microvalve can move from a first position to a second position using an electrical input and use a soft hydraulic assembly to return from the second position to the first position. The electrical input can create an electrostatic attraction, causing the compression of the soft hydraulic assembly and movement of the valve gate to seal the microvalve. The elasticity of the soft hydraulic assembly can then return the self-healing microvalve to the original state, once the electrical input is removed.

Abstract: A fill station permits transferring a gas, such as a compressed gas from a second device to a first device. The fill station includes a body having an inlet, an inlet/outlet port and an outlet. The body has a passage extending between the inlet, the inlet/outlet port and the outlet. The passage includes a central passage portion. The body includes a bore therein in communication with the central passage portion. A valve assembly includes a seal, a seat, a ball and a biasing member mounted in the body at a first side of the central passage in communication with the inlet/outlet port and a seal, a seal support, and an actuator shaft positioned in the body on an opposite side of the central passage portion. Engagement of the actuator shaft with the ball moves the ball off of the seat to open flow communication from the inlet/outlet port to the outlet and disengagement of the actuator shaft from the ball moves the ball onto the seat to close flow communication from the inlet to the outlet.

Abstract: An inflatable structure for gas storage (such as carbon dioxide) includes an inner bladder containing a gas for storage and an outer wall spaced from the inner bladder. An intermediate space between the bladder and the outer wall is pressurized with a gas other than the storage gas (such as air) so that the structure is protected from environmental conditions such as wind and snow loading. A method of using the inflatable structure for storage of a storage gas includes using a blower to inflate the inner bladder with storage gas, and pressurizing the intermediate space with air to have a higher pressure than the inner bladder.

Abstract: A light-emitting device includes an optical member including first and second light emitting elements, first and second light condenser portions, and a light guide portion. The first light condenser portion is disposed at a position corresponding to the first light-emitting element, and condenses a portion of light emitted from the first light-emitting element. The second light condenser portion surrounds the first light condenser portion, and condenses a portion of the light that is not incident to the first light condenser portion among the light emitted from the first light-emitting element. The light guide portion is disposed at a periphery of the second light condenser portion and at a position corresponding to the second light-emitting element, and guides light emitted from the second light-emitting element by causing total reflection in an interior of the light guide portion.
