Abstract: A method of determining a position of a diverter of a fluid circulation system in a dishwasher appliance includes measuring a fluid pressure in a sump of the dishwasher appliance while pumping fluid from the sump into a wash chamber of the dishwasher appliance via a first component when the diverter is in a first position. The method also includes measuring the fluid pressure in the sump of the dishwasher appliance while pumping the fluid from the sump to a filter cleaning manifold when the diverter is in a second position. Based on the measured fluid pressure, the method determines whether the diverter is in the second position.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for metal implant contact detection through capacitive measurements is provided. Capacitive measurement is accomplished with a conductive wire/lead, for example a main needle. The measured capacitance increases as the main needle is moved through the skin and tissues, then jumps when the main needle makes contact with the metal implant, thus proving the metal implant exists as well as detecting the location of the metal implant. The jump in capacitive measurement is detectable because the area of capacitance has increased from the main needle alone to the main needle plus the surface area of the metal implant. The apparatus can include a reference needle for taking reference needle capacitive measurements in the tissues surrounding the metal implant to increase the accuracy during use of the apparatus. A housing is provided for supporting the main and reference needles and supporting or housing apparatus electronics.

The device may calculate a set of baseline correction points for each wavelength channel of the plurality of wavelength channels. The set of baseline correction points may be calculated based on end-of-phase information for a wavelength channel of the plurality of wavelength channels and PPG data associated with the wavelength channel. The device may perform a baseline correction for each wavelength channel of the plurality of wavelength channels. A baseline correction may be performed for the wavelength channel based on the set of baseline correction points associated with the wavelength channel and the PPG data associated with the wavelength channel. Abstract: A miniature wireless pressure sensor has an inductor and a capacitor. The inductor and the capacitor form a L-C resonator with a resonate frequency. The inductor's inductance is affected by a slidable electro-magnetic element. When an outside pressure is applied onto the element, it causes the element to move and such movement changes the inductance of the inductor. Because of that, the resonate frequency is changed. Therefore, the change in resonate frequency indicates a change in the outside pressure. The L-C resonator is calibrated to correlate with the outside pressure. Such a miniature wireless pressure sensor facilitates the monitoring of physiological pressure in different part of human body such as eyes and cranium.

Abstract: An electroencephalogram decision system determines, when finding electroencephalogram information representing an electroencephalogram obtained by an electrode unit placed on a region of interest that forms part of a subject's head satisfying a predetermined condition, that a target electroencephalogram, which is an electroencephalogram with a characteristic variation, should have been produced. The predetermined condition is selected from of detection conditions including a first type of condition and a second type of condition. The first type of condition specifies that a decision should be made, based on a component falling within a single frequency band included in the electroencephalogram represented by the electroencephalogram information, whether or not the target electroencephalogram has been produced.

Abstract: A continuous blood glucose monitoring system and method measures emitted microwave energy transmitted to and accepted by blood vessels in a desired target area of a patient in order to determine, in real time and in vivo, appropriate blood glucose levels. A measurement unit comprises a transmitter operatively connected to an antenna to deliver energy towards appropriate subcutaneous blood vessels. The measurement unit determines an accepted energy power value in the blood vessels associated with the desired target area. This measurement energy power value is compared with a calibration value, and the difference is used to determine a resultant blood glucose value. The determined blood glucose value may further be acclimatized using additional sensed values compensating for biological and ambient factors relevant to the patient. The final determined blood glucose value can be displayed for reading and/or transmitted and stored for recording for further reference.
