Abstract: Various exemplary methods, systems, and devices for near field communication (NFC) between a surgical instrument and a robotic surgical system are provided. In general, a surgical tool is configured to move between different modes of communication with a robotic surgical system to which the tool is releasably and replaceably coupled. The different modes of communication are detectable by the robotic surgical system by the tool's frequency of NFC with the robotic surgical system. The tool includes a mechanism configured to be manipulated by a user of the tool to move the tool between the different modes of communication. The tool operating in a first mode of communication indicates to the robotic surgical system that the tool is operating in a normal state. The tool operating in each of one or more additional modes of communication indicates that the tool is operating in an error state.

Abstract: A surgical robot system includes a slave unit and a computing unit. The slave unit includes a robotic arm, a surgical instrument, a cannula and a sensing element. The robotic arm drives the surgical instrument to rotate about a remote center of motion (RCM). The cannula is detachably coupled to a terminal of the robotic arm and defines an axis passing through the RCM. The surgical instrument is detachably connected with the terminal of the robotic arm and extends distally through the cannula, and the sensing element is disposed on the cannula and senses an axial deformation of the cannula. The computing unit determines a radial force acting on the terminal of the surgical instrument, from a force on the cannula sensed by the sensing element, according to the principle of torque balance.

Abstract: A stent device with skirt folds and a processing method thereof, a skirt folding method, and a heart valve. The stent device comprises a stent (1, 105) and a flexible skirt (2, 107), the skirt (2, 107) having an expanded state, in which the skirt is axially extended and surrounds the stent (1, 105) before release thereof, and a folded state, in which the skirt is driven by the deformation caused when the stent (1, 105) is released, collapses and folds axially along the released stent (1, 105) so as to form an annular peripheral leakage-blocking portion. The peripheral leakage prevention technology enables an interventional stent to fit to the inner wall of a vessel more snugly, such that the stent does not easily move and is more stable, thereby being suitable for more people, reducing additional risks of surgery and preventing complications such as peripheral leakage and thrombus.

Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention are a stent apparatus having a self-pleated skirt, a processing method therefor, a skirt pleating method, and a cardiac valve. The stent apparatus comprises a stent, and is further provided with a flexible skirt. The skirt comprises: an unfolded state, where the skirt extends axially and surrounds the periphery of the stent before release; and a stacked state, where the skirt is driven by deformation during release of the stent, and gathers and is stacked along an axial direction of the released stent to form an annular perivalvular leakage blocking part. The stent apparatus is further provided with a pull-wire which is merely threaded on the skirt, and the pull-wire may react to the radial deformation during the release of the stent to drive the skirt to enter the stacked state.

Abstract: A transcatheter valve prosthesis includes an expandable tubular stent, a prosthetic valve within the stent, and an anti-paravalvular leakage component coupled to and encircling the tubular stent. The anti-paravalvular leakage component includes a radially-compressible annular scaffold, which is a sinusoidal patterned ring of self-expanding material, and an impermeable membrane extending over the annular scaffold. The anti-paravalvular leakage component has an expanded configuration in which at least segments of the annular scaffold curve radially away from the tubular stent. Alternatively, the anti-paravalvular leakage component includes a plurality of self-expanding segments and an annular sealing element coupled to inner surfaces of the segments. The anti-paravalvular leakage component has an expanded configuration in which the segments curve radially away from the tubular stent and the annular sealing element is positioned between an outer surface of the tubular stent and inner surfaces of the segments.

The delivery device includes an inner shaft assembly and a delivery sheath assembly. The delivery sheath assembly provides a capsule terminating at a distal end. The prosthesis includes a stent carrying a prosthetic valve. In a delivery state, the capsule maintains the prosthesis in a collapsed condition over the inner shaft assembly, and the balloon is in a deflated arrangement radially between the prosthetic heart valve and the capsule. In a deployment state, at least a portion of the balloon and at least a portion of the prosthetic heart valve are distal the capsule. Further, the balloon is inflated and surrounds an exterior of at least a portion of the prosthetic heart valve. The balloon controls self-expansion of the prosthetic heart valve.

Abstract: Cardiac valve repair devices with annuloplasty features and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A cardiac valve repair device configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, an atrial fixation member configured to engage tissue within a left atrium proximate to a native mitral valve and a spring mechanism coupled to an inferior edge portion of the atrial fixation member. The spring mechanism has an extended state with a first length corresponding to a dimension of the atrial fixation member in a deployed state and a relaxed state with a shorter length corresponding to a desired dimension of the native valve annulus. When implanted, the spring mechanism contracts the atrial fixation member such that the native mitral annulus anchored to the atrial fixation member reduces in a cross-sectional dimension.
