Abstract: Providing collision avoidance protection to controllers sharing the same sensor. Each of a pair of asynchronous controllers changes the period of a sync pulse transmitted to the other controller to indicate to the other controller it is synchronized. When one of the controllers begins reading data from the shared sensor, the other controller waits to receive another sync pulse for indicating when the controller is finished reading data from the shared sensor. Thus, the asynchronous controllers avoid accessing the same sensor at the same time.

Such a tape may be manufactured through high speed manufacturing processes and wound into large master rolls. In the roll configuration, the modified surface contacts the backside of the liner and experiences compressive forces in the roll. Due to the compressive forces, a part of the modified surface may get pushed into the PSA, thereby affecting the properties of the modified adhesive.

Abstract: An automated refurbishment system for cleaning and testing recycled child-safe containers. The system takes in durable, child-safe container bodies and caps after usage, washes the container parts reduce an amount of contaminants, and then dries the washed parts. The system then assembles the child-safe container bodies to caps, and tests the assembled child-safe containers, to assess the functionality of the child-safe features. The clean and tested refurbished child-safe containers can then be reused to dispense controlled substances (e.g., pharmaceuticals). Specific modules of the system can be interchanged to allow compatibility with different styles and designs of child-safe containers. The refurbishment system facilitates the recycling and reuse of durable, child-safe containers as an alternative to the current practice of using single-use, disposable plastic child-safe containers to dispense prescription pills and other controlled substances.

Abstract: A lid for secure engagement with a disposable plastic cup to prevent spilling and allow for vigorous mixing of enclosed contents. The lid includes a guidance skirt, an orientation securing layer, and a secure engagement layer. The guidance skirt provides guidance of the rim of the cup into the orientation securing layer. The orientation securing layer helps stabilize the orientation of the lid during transition into the secure engagement layer. Furthermore, the lid has good flight characteristics when tossed as a flying disk because the profile of its cross-section roughly approximates the shape of an airfoil, and multiple substantially vertical portions near the perimeter of the lid augment the moment of inertia.

Abstract: A dispensing system for use with a portable container for the storage, transport, and dispensation of fluids, especially liquids. The dispensing system includes an annular collar affixable to such a portable container. The collar is matable with a twist-top having a straw thereon. Once mated, corresponding structures on the collar and twist-stop prevent or inhibit separation. The twist-top can be twisted open to a position in which corresponding interior structures of the twist-top and collar form a fluid channel allowing liquid in the container to flow past sealing elements such as a gasket, and to egress to a contoured surface for sipping hot liquids by a human. The twist-top can be twisted close to reseal and inhibit fluid egress. Alternatively, a rotatable flip straw in the twist-top can be opened to drink cold liquids from the container while the twist-top is sealed in closed position.
