Abstract: A liquid filter apparatus and system is provided. The liquid filter apparatus and system is especially suitable for purifying water. The apparatus and system may have a solid portion and/or a porous filter portion called a monolithic unit. The present apparatus and system is suitable for providing clean water for drinking, cooking, washing and other household, public, medical, agricultural and industrial uses. The present apparatus and system utilizes anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-mold and/or other cleansing elements to purify the liquid. The liquid passing through the system must pass through the monolithic unit which is solid and porous therein contacting the antimicrobial material and/or antimicrobial components located within the monolithic unit. The apparatus and system provide a high hydraulic conductivity as a result of the solid and porous nature of the monolithic unit.

Abstract: A regulating tank of a wastewater treatment system includes a tank member having an annular wall to receive wastewater, a first overflow weir connected to an interior side of the annular wall of the tank member, and a first pump device having a first pump and a first return pipe. The first pump of the first pump device pumps wastewater in the tank member to the first overflow weir through the first return pipe, and then the wastewater flows back to the tank member from the first overflow weir to disturb the wastewater in the tank member.

Abstract: A photothermal desalination system includes a seawater harvester that harvests cold seawater from below the ocean thermocline. Heat transfer coils are filled with the cold seawater and steam from a steam generator (boiler) condenses upon interaction with the heat transfer coils to produce fresh water. To achieve a minimal environmental footprint, the steam generator produces steam from the harvested seawater using peanut oil that is heated to just below its smoke point. Heating the peanut oil can be accomplished using concentrated solar power. The peanut oil can be stored in insulated in-ground containers. In addition to using the steam to generate fresh water, some of the steam can be used to generate electricity which can be used to power various components of the system. Moreover, the system can produce other useful products from otherwise wasteful outputs, including biofuel and glycerin from peanut oil sludge and sea salt from brine water.

Abstract: A UVC disinfection system is described where incoming fluid, such as water, is directed onto a transparent window in a vertical disinfection chamber. The incoming water is directed downward by a channel at an acute angle (e.g., 10-20 degrees) with respect to a central axis of the disinfection chamber and impinges on the window at an angle almost perpendicular to the window surface. One or more UVC LEDs are optically coupled to the window. The water impinging on the window becomes agitated due to the severe redirection and interaction with water already in the chamber. This randomizes (mixes) the water in the area where there is the highest UVC power. The UVC LEDs direct light along the central axis of the cylindrical chamber for maximum exposure of the water to the UVC light. Disinfection efficiency is therefore increased.
