Abstract: Disclosed are compositions and methods for producing a poultry egg that is rich in odd-chain fatty acid (OCFA), particularly pentadecanoic acid (C15:0) and heptadecanoic (C17:0) acid. Poultry feed can be mixed with a compound (e.g. biomass or oil extract) that is produced from microalgae cultured to comprise elevated levels of OCFA. The OCFA-enriched poultry feed comprises an elevated level of OCFA and it can be fed to poultry that are laying eggs. As the OCFA-enriched feed is incorporated by the poultry, the resulting eggs comprise yolks that are rich in OCFA. The OCFA rich eggs can be consumed by humans as a dietary source of OCFA, to improve health.

Abstract: Methods of making coated pet food kibble and the kibble product by coating kibble with a composition that include at least one of: (i) lecithin and chicken fat; (ii) lecithin, a glycerol monoester of a fatty acid, a sugar monoester of a fatty acid, and chicken fat; (iii) lecithin, N?—(C8-C18) acyl arginine alkyl (C1-C8) ester, and chicken fat; or (iv) N?—(C8-C18) acyl arginine alkyl (C1-C8) ester-thymol and chicken fat. When the pet food kibble coated with a composition as described above, exhibits amounts of Salmonella sp. that are reduced by about 99%. This reduction is effective for at least 60 days post coating when compared to pet food kibble coated with a composition lacking one of (i)-(iv). The compositions are also used in a method for treating raw beef or poultry prior to grinding where the ground meat exhibits amounts of Salmonella sp. that are reduced by about 99%.

The ketogenic nutritional composition disclosed herein can exhibit improved physical stability, solubility, homogeneity and aqueous dispersibility as compared to existing ketogenic diet supplements, and is substantially free of carbohydrates. Abstract: A control method for improving forming and 3D precise printing performance of a thawed surimi system relates to the field of 3D printing food material preparation technologies. In the present invention, steps including thawing, mixing, grinding, performing, printing, setting, and cooking are performed on frozen surimi. A thawed surimi gel system of the present invention can reduce the printing temperature, and increase the discharging rate and the three-dimensional forming rate. In the present invention, an acid-induced surimi gel is formed by adding linseed gum and glucolactone, and the surimi gel has stable viscosity and fluidity. The surimi slurry is minced and does not easily cause blockage, and discharging is smooth. By means of 3D precise printing technology, the surimi gel system of the present invention may be made into a cold dish of fish product that retains original properties and taste of the surimi product.

Abstract: The invention relates to olive processing, and includes methods for producing olives, as well as the olives produced thereby. In one aspect, the invention provides compositions directed towards packaged olive preparations having novel and beneficial characteristics, for example, olive preparations that are free of packing liquids such as brine solutions. Abstract: A helmet having a visor and a method of manufacturing such helmet are disclosed. The helmet comprises a shell dimensioned to receive the head of a user. A visor is moveably attached to the shell, and configurable between (1) a first position in which the visor extends from a forward region of the shell and (2) a second position in which the visor is substantially retracted with respect to the forward region of the shell. It is contemplated that actuation of the movement of the visor between the first position and the second position is automated on placement or removal of the helmet from the head of a user.
