Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of providing a cylinder liner for insert casting, with which the bonding strength between a cylinder liner and a cylinder block can be improved by reducing voids generated on the cylinder block. The problem is solved by a cylinder liner for insert casting which includes plural projections on its outer peripheral surface and satisfies the following (i) and (ii): (i) the number of the projections is 5 to 50 per 1 cm2 on the outer peripheral surface, and (ii) when two 15.2 mm×0.03 mm lines are set in parallel with a gap of 3.8 mm therebetween at an arbitrary position on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder liner, the total number of projections that are in contact with the two lines is 8 or less.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods for dicing a bonded structure are provided. A method includes the following operations. First, a scan pattern can be determined for forming a series of ablation structures in the bonded structure. Relative positions between the series of ablation structures and a bonding interface of the bonded structure can then be determined. The bonding surface may be between a first wafer and a second wafer. At least one of one or more focal planes or a depth of focus of a laser beam may be determined based on the relative positions between the series of ablation structures and the bonding interface. Further, the laser beam may be determined. The laser beam has a series of pulsed lasers. Further, the laser beam may be moved in the bonded structure according to the scan pattern to form the series of ablation structures in the bonded structure.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for processing an object (1) by means of interfering laser beams. It is the task of the invention to provide for an improved compensation of the aberrations accumulated over the beam path in such processes/apparatuses, since these are a substantial disturbing factor with respect to the precision in structuring the material. Furthermore, the influence of the period course, i.e. the spatial modulation of the period of the modification produced in the material of the object (1), shall be improved. The invention proposes that laser radiation is generated as a collimated laser beam (3). The intensity distribution and/or the phase progression is influenced over the cross-section of the laser beam (3) to correct aberrations. The laser beam (3) is divided into two partial beams (6, 7). Finally, the partial beams (6, 7) are deflected and focused so that the partial beams (6, 7) overlap in a processing zone (10) in the material of the object (1).
