Abstract: Provided is an endoscope treatment tool of which the usability is favorable regardless of which of a syringe and a water supply tube is used by being connected to a water injection connector. A connector body (18) is connected to an operation part body (22) such that the connector body (18) is rotatable around a rotation axis (28). The operation part body (22) includes a rotation stopper (60) that restricts rotation of the connector body (18). The connector body (18) includes an abutting surface (62) that abuts the rotation stopper (60). The connector body (18) is capable of transitioning between a rotation restricted state, in which the abutting surface (62) abuts the rotation stopper (60) such that rotation of the connector body (18) in one direction is restricted, and a rotation allowed state, in which the abutting surface (62) abutting the rotation stopper (60) is released and rotation of the connector body (18) in both directions is allowed, by rotating with respect to the operation part body (22).

Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a housing and a motor. An elongated member extends from the housing. An end effector is at a distal end of the elongated member. The end effector includes a jaw member including a guard. The guard has a number of serrations extending from a proximal end of the jaw member to a distal end of the jaw member. The guard defines corresponding pockets between the serrations. The guard is coupled to the motor to induce reciprocation of the guard relative to the blade upon activation of the motor. A blade is recessed within the guard to expose a cutting edge of the blade between the pockets. The pockets engage tissue. A treatment tip is at a distal end of the guard. The treatment tip connects to an energy source. The treatment tip treats tissue upon activation of the treatment tip.

The expandable balloon is expanded at the target location. A fluid is flowed through an inner lumen of the catheter and into the blood in a vicinity of each electrode. A dependence of the characteristic of blood on time is measured, via the one or more sensors, in proximity to each electrode. Using a processor, it is determined whether or not each electrode is in physical contact with tissue, based on the measured dependence of the characteristic of blood. Abstract: Packaging systems are configured for improving long-term stability of a composition. Packaging systems may include a packaging container defining an enclosed volume. The packaging system may additionally include a removable cover that enables the packaging container to be opened and closed such that the packaging container system includes a sealed or sealable volume to contain a main composition in fluid communication with a sacrificial composition. The main composition may include one or more volatile or gas-releasing materials and the sacrificial material may include a stabilizing component that replaces the at least one volatile or gas-releasing component within the main composition or displaces the at least one volatile or gas-releasing component within the enclosed volume. The sacrificial composition helps maintain stability of the main composition by accelerating equilibrium of vapors or gases within the headspace of the sealed interior volume.

Abstract: Device for inspecting the stability of a dental implant (1) in a bone (2), the implant having a free end (1a) and an end (1b) buried in the bone (2). The device comprises an ultrasonic transducer (12) for emitting and collecting an ultrasonic wave reflected from a contact interface (4) between the implant (1) and the bone (2), and providing a measurement signal representing the reflected ultrasonic wave. The device also comprises a processing unit for computing, based on the measurement signal, an indicator (IN) whose value makes it possible to evaluate the integration of the implant (1) into the bone (2). The indicator (IN) corresponds to the average energy of the measurement signal over a time interval (t1-t2) starting at a first time (t1) and ending at a second time (t2). The first time (t1) is between 20 and 80 ?s after the start of the emission of the ultrasonic wave.

Abstract: A method and prosthesis is provided for percutaneous repair of an anatomical defect, such as an inguinal hernia. The method involves percutaneously accessing the inguinal canal of a patient. Following hernia reduction, if required, the hernia defect may be accessed and repaired percutaneously from within the inguinal canal. An implantable prosthesis may be percutaneously delivered into the inguinal canal. The prosthesis may be advanced along the inguinal canal from the percutaneous entry location to the defect site, where it may be deployed over and/or within the defect. A biocompatible foam material may be percutaneously delivered into the inguinal canal to reduce and/or repair the hernia defect. The foam may fill and solidify in the canal to prevent abdominal viscera from reentering the canal. Ablative therapy may be performed within the inguinal canal to cause a fibrotic response resulting in scar tissue formation and/or tissue shrinkage that narrows the canal.

Abstract: An endovascular medical assembly and method for restoring chordal support to a leaflet of a heart valve by implanting artificial chordae tendinea in the heart. A chord is inserted into the heart endovascularly with a leaflet grasper which pierces the leaflet and implants the chord through the leaflet. An anchor assembly is implanted into an intracardiac wall and has anchor lines extending therefrom. The chord and an anchor line are assembled by a line gathering member and the tension of the chord is adjusted and secured. The chord is, thus, secured to the anchor assembly to support the leaflet.
