Abstract: An electrocardiographic transmitter executes statistical processes for an electrocardiographic signal to calculate an average value HRav of a heart rate HR in a predetermined period of time. In a case where the average value HRav of the heart rate HR is abnormal, the electrocardiographic transmitter continuously transmits electrocardiogram data based on the electrocardiographic signal to a terminal. The terminal receives and transfers the electrocardiogram data as it is to a host device. The host device stores therein and supplies the transferred electrocardiogram data for a diagnosis by medical worker. Thus, the state of a subject's heart can be monitored over the long term.

Abstract: A garment for detecting radiation washout (e.g., radioactivity concentrations) in organs includes a covering that wraps around and is secured to the body. The covering permits positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging of the body through the covering. The garment includes guides formed from a material that is visible in a computed tomography (CT) image of the garment, such that the guides are visible in CT images of user organs that the garment overlies. A plurality of radiation detectors are attached to the covering in a configuration customized for the body. A wiring system connects the plurality of radiation detectors to a power and data control system that is configured to transmit data from the garment to a remote service provider.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for predicting neurodegenerative decline and/or its severity for a patient, especially of cognitive impairment (CI). Strokes and Parkinson's disease are frequently associated with occurrence of long-term cognitive impairment or dementia with still incompletely resolved mechanisms. The discovery of diagnostic and predictive biomarkers thus remains a major challenge. The method of the invention uses radiomics corresponding to texture features extracted from a plurality of previously-acquired medical brain images and correlated with previously-acquired clinical and/or biological data. A classifier is trained beforehand for learning these radiomics, and then operated on radiomics computed from at least one brain image of a patient to generate a score representative of its risks of neurodegenerative decline. By applying this method on a cohort of 160 MCI and non-MCI patients, the inventors show that MCI patients could be early predicted with a mean accuracy of 88%.

Abstract: Processes, scales, and devices to measure and quantify wetness perception in humans. Exemplary devices and scales utilize sensor fusion of temperature and pressure modalities, for which humans have dedicated receptors in the skin, to understand how the perception of wetness comes about. Processes test the utility of wetness perception as a biomarker for assaying peripheral neuropathy. Wetness perception devices include a Peltier module. The temperature of the Peltier module can be varied precisely using a computer-aided feedback system, mounted on a load scale to enable concomitant pressure measurements. Devices may include an insulation chamber with desiccators in place to lower internal humidity and prevent condensation. Wetness perception can be used as a non-invasive biomarker for disease-related peripheral neuropathy in which sensory mechanisms are disrupted.

Abstract: Generally, abnormal pressures in the sinus cavity can have physiological effects due to stimulation or injury of various nerves that are in proximity to the sinus, including increased or decreased pressure on the nerves as well as extrusion of the nerves into the sinus cavities due to bony dehiscence. Methods and devices for alleviating disorders associated with the sinus cavities are described. Embodiments herein include diagnosing these disorders by occluding or restricting the sinus ostium and assessing the physiological effects caused by the occlusion/restriction and treating these disorders by navigating/directing a dilating device to the sinus ostium and dilating the sinus ostium. Other embodiments are directed to devices for maintaining the ostial opening.

Abstract: Disclosed techniques include skin diagnostics using optical signatures. A plurality of optical excitation light wavelength bands is scanned on a material sample, wherein the material sample exhibits optical spectral characteristics along the light wavelength spectrum. Excitation response wavelengths emitted by the material sample are captured in response to the plurality of optical excitation light wavelength bands, wherein the capturing is accomplished using an imaging sensor. Output values of a plurality of pixels of an image from the imaging sensor are measured, wherein the image represents excitation response wavelengths captured by the imaging sensor, wherein the measuring detects optical spectral characteristics of the material sample, and wherein the optical spectral characteristics are in response to the plurality of optical excitation light wavelength bands.

The image chamber unit includes an antenna assembly defining a horizontally-oriented imaging chamber and including an array of antennas arranged around the imaging chamber. The antennas include at least some transmitting antennas and some receiving antennas. The control system causes the transmitting antennas to transmit a low power electromagnetic field that is received by the receiving antennas after passing through a patient's head in the imaging chamber. A data tensor is produced that may be inversed to reconstruct a 3D distribution of dielectric properties within the head and to create an image. The housing at least partially contains the antenna assembly and has a front entry opening into the imaging chamber.
