Abstract: A method for breeding a fresh-eating waxy corn variety with sweet taste is provided, relates to the technical field of fresh-eating waxy corns. According to the method, a waxy corn cultivar is hybridized with a supersweet waxy homozygous double-recessive backbone self-line to obtain a waxy corn self-line with sweet taste A, and the waxy corn self-line with sweet taste A and a waxy corn backbone self-line are performed with hybridization group to obtain the fresh-eating waxy corn variety with sweet taste. The breeding method can create an excellent waxy self-line with sweet taste having high seed germination rate, good plant agronomic traits, strong resistance and high sugar content in kernels. The sugar content and taste quality of the bred waxy corn with sweet taste are significantly improved and the harvest period is much longer, which is suitable for fresh-eating and quick-freezing processing.

Abstract: A device, system, and method of controlling pests are disclosed. A pest control device includes a sensor having a sensor cell and a controller. A surface of the sensor cell is coated with an agent that reacts with a targeted biochemical analyte secreted by pests. The controller is coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor cell indicative of a rate of change in sensor mass detected on the surface of the sensor cell, determine whether the rate of change in the sensor mass based on the received sensor data exceeds a predefined threshold rate, and transmit a pest detection alert notification to a server in response to a determination that the rate of change exceeds the predetermined threshold rate.

Abstract: A trap catches multiple iguanas and/or other nuisance animals in one setting. The trap may include a larger confinement volume having a one-way entry door on at least one side and in other embodiments on all sides that remain active no matter how many iguanas are in the trap. The entry door is designed such that once the iguana has started through the door it cannot turn back. Access to remove the iguanas is also provided. A large bait station that can hold several days of bait and be easily rebaited with minimal contact with the trap is also provided. An auxiliary cage may be coupled to the trap to off-load captured iguanas without moving the primary trap.
