Patent number: 11930414Abstract: Hybrid use of dual policies is provided to improve a communication system. In a multiple access scenario, when an inactive user equipment (UE) transitions to an active state, it may be become a burden to a radio cell on which it was previously camping. In some embodiments, hybrid load balancing is provided using a hierarchical machine learning paradigm based on reinforcement learning in which an LSTM generates a goal for one policy influencing cell reselection so that another policy influencing handover over active UEs can be assisted. The communication system as influenced by the policies is modeled as a Markov decision process (MDP). The policies controlling the active UEs and inactive UEs are coupled, and measureable system characteristics are improved. In some embodiments, policy actions depend at least in part on energy saving.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2023Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Jikun Kang, Xi Chen, Di Wu, Yi Tian Xu, Xue Liu, Gregory Lewis Dudek, Taeseop Lee, Intaik Park

Patent number: 11930459Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamically disabling beamforming functionality of one or more frequency bands. For example, a frequency band may have beamforming enabled. One or more user devices may be connected to the frequency band having beamforming enabled for access to a wireless telecommunications network. User devices connected with the frequency band may be at various locations of a network cell of the wireless telecommunications network (e.g., a cell center, middle cell, cell edge). Fading information may be received by one or more of the user devices connected with the frequency band. One or more fading channel measurements of the first frequency band may be above a threshold. In some embodiments, a fading channel measurement of the first frequency band is higher than another available frequency band having beamforming enabled. As such, beamforming of the first frequency band can be dynamically disabled.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2023Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: T-Mobile Innovations LLCInventor: Sreekar Marupaduga

Patent number: 11930461Abstract: Techniques and systems for extending the capture range of frequency offset error detection are described. For instance, the present disclose describes efficient frequency estimation structures (e.g., zero crossing minimum/maximum (min/max) structures) that may extend carrier frequency offset error capture range by running a bank (e.g., a set) of parallel capture range structures trialing different frequency errors. In some aspects, a set of frequency offset estimation circuits and a set of correlation circuits (e.g., 1-bit correlators) may be used on parallel streams to perform correlation operations on each branch of a received bit stream to determine correlations with known preamble patterns (e.g., to accurately estimate large frequency offset errors).Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2022Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Farshid Nowshadi, Jacob Christopher Sharpe
