Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are described for assessing the risk of developmental, cognitive, social, or mental abilities or disabilities in very young patients (e.g., in the first 2-6 months of life). Generally, the decline in visual fixation of a subject over time with respect to certain dynamic stimuli provides a marker of possible abilities or disabilities (such as ASD). The visual fixation of the subject is identified, monitored, and tracked over time through repeated eye tracking sessions, and data relating to the visual fixation is then analyzed to determine a possible increased risk certain conditions in the subject. A change in visual fixation as compared to similar visual fixation data of typically-developing subjects or to a subject's own, prior visual fixation data provides an indication of a developmental, cognitive, or mental ability or disability.

An initial cross section of a wall of a light guide device is created in predefined way. A hollow cavity for a light source is defined within this cross section. The surface of the hollow cavity is an ellipsoid. Using a ray tracing software tool, the initial cross section is refined to maximise total internal reflection of the light from the source within the cross section to achieve most efficient light guide device. Once the final cross section is created, it is rotated by 360 degrees on a predefined axis to obtain final structure of the light guide device. Abstract: A tomographic system accurately determines characteristics of a specific region within an inhomogeneous dielectric specimen by guiding an electromagnetic field through the inhomogeneous dielectric specimen in a transverse mode. The system may include a source of electromagnetic energy for generating an electromagnetic waveform, and a transmission line for guiding an electric field of the waveform along a prescribed path that defines a series of spatial regions. The transmission line is provided by a pair or array of conductors, the electric field spanning between two or more of the conductors as the electric field propagates along the prescribed path. The conductors may form part of an external non-contact structure which guides and controls the electromagnetic field both spatially and temporally.

Abstract: A method for counting coughs is provided. The method includes acquiring a plurality of onset signals from the sound signal, wherein the onset signal has a predetermined time length; acquiring a plurality of spectrograms corresponding to each of the plurality of onset signals; determining whether each of the acquired plurality of spectrograms represents a cough using a cough determination model; and calculating a number of coughs included in the sound signal based on a time point of a cough signal. The cough signal is an onset signal corresponding to one spectrogram determined to represent the cough. When a time interval between a first time point of a first cough signal and a second time point of a second cough is within a reference time interval, the first cough signal and the second cough signal are regarded as one cough signal at the first time point.
