By allowing the blood to pass through the balloon, constant traction against the vessel wall is achieved, regardless of flow rate, thereby mitigating distal migration. The balloon includes an orifice to allow blood flow through the balloon. The orifice is independent of the diameter of the vessel, therefore the effect of the diameter of the vessel changing during the procedure will not affect the flow rate of blood. Abstract: A guide wire includes a core shaft including a distal end portion that is curved in a predetermined direction, a coil body covering the outer periphery of the core shaft, and a distal tip joining a distal end portion of the core shaft and a distal end portion of the coil body. The distal tip has a convex shape oriented toward a distal end side. In a cross section of the core shaft cut along a plane including the central axis, the distal tip includes a curve inner portion located on an inside of the curve of the distal end portion relative to the central axis of the core shaft and a curve outer portion located on an outside of the curve of the distal end portion relative to the central axis. A cross-sectional area of the curve inner portion is smaller than that of the curve outer portion.

Abstract: Methods for performing non-invasive thrombolysis with ultrasound using, in some embodiments, one or more ultrasound transducers to focus or place a high intensity ultrasound beam onto a blood clot (thrombus) or other vascular inclusion or occlusion (e.g., clot in the dialysis graft, deep vein thrombosis, superficial vein thrombosis, arterial embolus, bypass graft thrombosis or embolization, pulmonary embolus) which would be ablated (eroded, mechanically fractionated, liquefied, or dissolved) by ultrasound energy. The process can employ one or more mechanisms, such as of cavitational, sonochemical, mechanical fractionation, or thermal processes depending on the acoustic parameters selected. This general process, including the examples of application set forth herein, is henceforth referred to as “Thrombolysis.

Abstract: A guidewire loading system includes a catheter having a catheter body having an internal lumen and a snare. The snare is positioned at least partially within the internal lumen of the catheter body. The snare includes a snare body and a first capture flare extending from a first end of the snare body and configured to receive the guidewire. The catheter body compresses the first capture flare to form a friction grip around the guidewire when the snare, including the first capture flare, and guidewire are pulled at least partially through the internal lumen of the catheter body.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are catheters for use with clot treatment systems, and associated devices and methods. The catheter can include an outer sheath, an outer sheath drive component operably coupled to the outer sheath, a guidewire sheath slidably disposed within the outer sheath, a guidewire sheath drive component operably coupled to the guidewire sheath and slidably disposed within the outer sheath drive component, and a clot treatment component. During a clot treatment procedure, the outer sheath drive component can be moved proximally and/or the guidewire sheath drive component can be moved distally to cause corresponding movement of the outer sheath and/or guidewire sheath, respectively, and transition the catheter between a first configuration, in which the clot treatment component can be positioned within the outer sheath, and a second configuration, in which at least part of the clot treatment component can extend beyond the outer sheath.

Abstract: An actuation mechanism including: first and second jaws rotatable about a jaw axis, having first and second slots, respectively; and a slider moveable along a slider axis. The slider includes first and second protrusions slidably receivable within the first and second slots, respectively, wherein each slot extends in a direction which is non-parallel to the slider axis when the respective protrusion is engaged with the slot. A return is attachable to the actuation mechanism and an actuation member is operably engageable with both the slider and the return. The actuation member includes first and second ends, a first portion that extends from the first end to the return, and a second portion that extends from the return to the second end. The first portion is fixable to the slider whereby individual movement of the first and second portions relative to the return causes the slider to move.
