    Abstract: A wear-out assessment for an oral care system (14) (e.g. an oral cleaning device) is disclosed. A sensor unit (16) of the oral care system is adapted to provide a sensor signal related to a cleaning efficacy of a cleaning function of the oral care system when generated when the oral care system is inside a user's mouth. The sensor unit (16) may be, or may be coupled to, a component which is used during execution of an oral care function of the device, for example a sensor for detecting cleaning progress in the mouth, or a component which drives a cleaning or treatment action in the mouth. In accordance with the invention, the sensor signal (20) generated when the oral care system is outside the mouth is used for performing a wear-out assessment. As relevant components used by the oral care system (14) for the oral care function wear, characteristics of the sensor signal (20) may change in a predictable way, which can be used to identify when a wear-out state has been reached.

    Abstract: In a device that includes a vibrating mouthpiece, a source of vibratory movement is connected to a relatively large, relatively stationary mass, or anchor, so the equal and opposite vibrational momentum of the handpiece (plus large mass) results in very little vibrational amplitude of the handpiece-plus-mass, while the active mouthpiece has high vibrational amplitude. In an example, a mouthpiece which engages with a part of a dental arch, is actively cleaning, while a block on the other side of the dental arch acts to anchor the vibration source to the much larger mass of the user's jaw (and head). When the user's jaws grip the block, there will be very little vibration of the handpiece or the user's teeth-jaw-head mass and consequently, the mouthpiece will vibrate at a greater amplitude than it would without the anchor. This leads to greater efficiency of the device.

    Abstract: A pouch for placement in an oral vestibule of a human for absorption of an active ingredient includes a pouch sleeve comprised of a material which is permeable to saliva, an active ingredient composition including caffeine and taurine, and an imprint positioned on an exterior surface of the pouch sleeve. The imprint, the permeability of the material of the pouch sleeve, and the active ingredient composition are configured such that, because of an effect of the saliva, the imprint is gradually released from the exterior surface of the pouch due to contact with the saliva. The saliva extracts the active ingredient composition from the pouch and fades the imprint so the imprint is no longer visually perceptible just when the active ingredient composition is substantially or completely extracted from the pouch. The imprint acts as a visual indicator of a consumption status of the active ingredient.

    Abstract: A tubular electrospun graft implant is provided distinguishing an electrospun tubular layer which has a longitudinal axis and an outer surface. Polymer layers of an electrospun sheet have been rolled over the outer surface of the electrospun tubular layer and around the longitudinal axis of the electrospun tubular layer. A polymer layer electrospun is further distinguished over the rolled polymer layers of the electrospun sheet. Also provided is a tubular graft implant having layers of an electrospun polymer sheet rolled around a longitudinal axis defining the inner diameter of the tubular graft implant. These layers of the electrospun polymer sheet are moving independent from each other when the tubular graft implant is bending. Compared to regular spun graft, higher burst pressure is achieved, and crushing zones have been created between the layers to reduce the bending stiffness and facilitate bending with superior kink resistance.
