Abstract: This invention relates to processes and systems of rapid prototyping and production. Its features includes flexible material deposition along tangential directions of surfaces of a part to be made, thereby eliminating stair-shape surface due to uniform horizontal layer deposition, increasing width of material deposition to increase build up rate, applying the principles of traditional forming/joining processes, such as casting, fusion welding, plastic extrusion and injection molding in the fabrication process so that various industrial materials can be processed, applying comparatively low cost heating sources, such as induction heating and arc-heating. Additional features include varying width and size of material deposition in accordance with geometry to be formed and applying a differential molding means for improved shape formation and surface finishing.

Abstract: A three-dimensional printing method can include iteratively applying polymer build material as individual layers; based on a three-dimensional object model, selectively jetting an electromagnetic radiation absorber and a translucency-modulating plasticizer onto individual layers of the polymer build material; and exposing the powder bed to electromagnetic energy to selectively fuse portions of individual layers of the polymer build material together to form a three-dimensional object. The polymer build material can include from about 60 wt % to 100 wt % polymeric particles having an average particle size from about 10 ?m to about 150 ?m and a degree of crystallinity from about 2% to about 60%, to a powder bed. At the locations where the polymer build material includes jetted translucency-modulating plasticizer, the three-dimensional object can exhibit an optical transmittance from about 5% to about 80%.

  • Publication number: 20240359403
Abstract: A novel technology to create 3D-printed objects that are extremely temperature resistant, mechanically robust, ultra-low-wear, and exhibit self-healing behavior. The material can be manufactured in a wide variety of process conditions and even used as a high-strength adhesive, enabling hybrid fabrication strategies. The gel precursor for this material is formed from two solids that react to create a high-performance polymer when heated. Unlike similar materials, these are solid at room temperature and form a printable gel when dissolved in a solvent. Addition of a secondary solvent to this gel modifies the solubility and creates a super-saturated fluid with tunable rheology. Once the gel material has been printed, it is allowed to dry via forced convection. This removes the solvent and leaves only the uncured polymer precursors. After the majority of the solvent has been removed, the material is heated to its cure temperature, at which point it melts, cures, and re-hardens.

Abstract: The present invention provides a multilayered biodegradable film, a method for manufacturing same, and an eco-friendly packaging material comprising same. Specifically, the multilayered biodegradable film comprises two or more kinds of different thermoplastic resin layers, which are alternately laminated and include: a first resin layer containing as a main ingredient a polylactic acid-based polymer; and a second resin layer containing as a main ingredient an aliphatic polyester-based resin or an aliphatic-aromatic copolymer polyester-based resin, the uniformity (LUI) of the first resin layer being adjusted to 0.2 ?m or less. Therefore, the multilayered biodegradable film retains excellent biodegradability and can improve the uniformity, flexibility, transparency, external appearance characteristics, and degrees of noise of final films, and thus can be utilized as a packaging material in various fields to enable the provision of a high-quality, eco-friendly packaging material.
