Abstract: A freestanding urinal designed for efficient waste management and odor control incorporates a standard receptacle with a storage tank with slanted interior floor, separated by a valve mechanism for odor containment and easy maintenance. The upper section of the unit comprises a urinal receptacle. Beneath the receptacle is a tank, connected by ball valve mechanism at the bottom of the urinal. The tank is designed to collect and store liquid waste over an extended period. The interior of the tank is slanted towards the back, ensuring efficient drainage and ease of maintenance. This design choice facilitates the complete emptying of the tank when required, preventing residue buildup and aiding in cleanliness. A ball valve, situated between the urinal and the tank, acts as a barrier to prevent odors from the tank from permeating the surrounding area.

Abstract: AI-based methods detect and recognize surface anomalies along a channel of a medical scope from video taken by a camera pushed through the channel, and track the position of the camera in the channel. The image data output by the video camera is subjected to semantic segmentation to identify the surface anomalies, and is concurrently subjected to a feature detection algorithm to determine keypoints in frames of the image data. The keypoints can be used to update the camera position in the channel and can also be used to determine the distance of the surface anomalies from an end of the channel. Abstract: An endoscopic device having reduced cross-section and a steering section of enhanced compliance. The device defines a smaller cross-section by eliminating need for pull wires and torsion sleeves. Use of a single fiber optic for steering opens up cross-sectional space to augment both irrigation and aspiration channels within a common catheter shaft. The single fiber optic may be utilized for “pulling” and/or “pushing” on the steering section, thereby providing unidirectional or bidirectional steering with a single fiber or fiber bundle. A distal steering section is configured to enhance compliance in response to the forces exerted by the single fiber optic. The enhanced compliance reduces the stoutness required of the fiber optic enabling a reduction in the size of the single fiber optic, thereby freeing up cross-section of the catheter for other uses. The enhanced compliance also enables tighter and more predictable articulation for better steering dexterity.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method determines at least one visual parameter of at least one eye of a person. A first visual stimulus and a second visual stimulus are displayed at the same time on a screen effecting a resulting eye movement depending on the at least one visual parameter. The first visual stimulus or the second visual stimulus is a pursuit stimulus. An apparatus for determining a visual parameter of at least one eye of a person is also disclosed. By displaying the at least one first visual stimulus and the at least one second visual stimulus, particularly with at least one differing visual stimulus parameter, at the same time on the screen, a more robust and more exact determination of the visual parameter is achieved compared to a method wherein only one visual stimulus is being displayed.

Abstract: A laser surgery system includes a light source, an eye interface device, a scanning assembly, a confocal detection assembly and preferably a confocal bypass assembly. The light source generates an electromagnetic beam. The scanning assembly scans a focal point of the electromagnetic beam to different locations within the eye. An optical path propagates the electromagnetic beam from a light source to the focal point, and also propagates a portion of the electromagnetic beam reflected from the focal point location back along at least a portion of the optical path. The optical path includes an optical element associated with a confocal detection assembly that diverts a portion of the reflected electromagnetic radiation to a sensor. The sensor generates an intensity signal indicative of intensity the electromagnetic beam reflected from the focal point location. The confocal bypass assembly reversibly diverts the electromagnetic beam along a diversion optical path around the optical element.
