  • Patent number: 12139994
Abstract: A ramp type frac plug device of the present invention is a simplified, short and compact frac plug device to both maintain seal to the borehole wall and prevent premature release from the borehole. The frac plug device includes a cone, an anchor assembly, a cap member, a slip device, and a sealing member. In a set configuration, the frac plug device has both the friction fit engagement of the cone and the slip device and a single direction rachet locked engagement of an anchor ring with a threaded ring portion and an anchor mandrel with an exterior threaded mandrel portion of the anchor assembly. The ratchet lock engagement between the anchor ring and the anchor mandrel prevents backward movement of the cone away from the anchor mandrel so that the cap member engaged with the anchor mandrel locks the slip device in position on the cone.

  • Patent number: 12139997
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of conducting a perf wash cement (“P/W/C”) abandonment job in an offshore oil or gas well annulus, in particular the washing or cementing operation using a rotating head with nozzles dispensing wash fluid or cement at pressure. A new design of bottom hole assembly is proposed in which the cementing tool has a relatively large diameter in order to optimize pressure whilst the wash tool has a relatively small diameter. The wash process, for a number of reasons, appears to be less sensitive to tool diameter and making the wash tool smaller reduces the overall risk of stuck pipe.

  • Patent number: 12140009
Abstract: A method is provided for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir. A mixture of steam and H2S-sorbent particles (e.g., nanoparticles) is injected into the subterranean reservoir. This may be performed during the steam phase of a steam injection operation, such as steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD), steam flooding, or cyclic steam stimulation, which is performed on the reservoir. The injected steam reduces the viscosity of the hydrocarbons in the subterranean formation. The injected H2S-sorbent particles attach to the subterranean reservoir and adsorb H2S therein. The hydrocarbons are produced to the surface, without producing the H2S-sorbent particles with adsorbed H2S that remain attached to the subterranean reservoir.

  • Patent number: 12140014
Abstract: A system and method are described to determine a pump intake pressure in a petroleum producing well. The system includes a controller at a well site of the petroleum producing well, a system of valves connected to pipes collecting the well casing gas produced from a casing annulus of the producing well. The valves are controlled by the controller and a pressure sensor measures the pressure of the well casing gas in the casing annulus. The system determines a well casing gas flow rate by measuring a build-up pressure of the well casing gas in a casing annulus when a valve from the casing annulus is closed. A fluid level in the casing of the well is determined using a pressure wave created in the well casing gas using the controller and the one or more valves. A fluid gradient correction factor is found using an actual fluid level in the casing. The controller then calculates the pressure using the gas flow rate, the fluid level and the fluid gradient correction factor.
