  • Patent number: 11755226
Abstract: In some examples, a system transfers, in a first transfer operation, data of a first storage volume of a first storage location to a second storage volume for a second storage location. Responsive to a completion of the transfer of data of the first storage volume to the second storage volume, the system activates tracking information to track changes to data portions of the second storage volume, the tracking information comprising a plurality of indicators that map to respective different data portions of the second storage volume. As part of a second transfer operation following the first transfer operation, the system transfers changed data indicated by the tracking information from the second storage volume to the first storage volume, without transferring unchanged data in the second storage volume to the first storage volume.

  • Patent number: 5979307
Abstract: A double-belt system for processing viscous melts includes a driven upper belt having a lower working run, and a driven lower belt having an upper working run spaced beneath the lower working run to form a gap therewith for receiving a viscous melt. A gap-adjusting mechanism includes upper rollers engaging an upper surface of the lower working run, and lower rollers engaging a lower surface of the upper working run. A distance between the upper rollers and lower rollers is adjustable to vary a size of the gap. A compensation mechanism is disposed over the lower working run to apply an upward force thereto for pulling the lower working run against the upper rollers, thereby resisting sagging of the lower working run. At least one delivery mechanism applies a temperature-controlled liquid across an entire width of the lower working run for controlling a temperature thereof. The liquid is extracted by an extraction mechanism disposed downstream of the delivery mechanism.

Abstract: A continuously operating press for the production of particleboards, fiberboards or similar wooden-material boards and plastic sheets allows for the free longitudinal expansion or contraction of the press heating plates by having a press force frame structure of individual press frames positioned between support carriers and mounted on sliding members on the lower support carriers. The sliding members are designed as rolling wheel segments that are assigned to each individual frame of the press force support structure.

  • Patent number: 5915295
Abstract: A machine and method for manufacturing corrugated board, including several machines for applying heat to both sides of the corrugated board during the manufacturing process. Different types of heat exchangers may be used on the top and bottom sides of the moving surface to transfer sufficient heat to the moving surface, to remove moisture and to cure the adhesive of the corrugated board. Independently controlled heat exchangers enable the manufacturer to regulate the heat applied to the corrugated board across the width of the machine and in the direction of the machine flow, in response to varying the desired width and thickness of corrugated board. Unused areas of the hotplate section may be isolated to minimize the heat loss in the machine when narrow width corrugated board is manufactured.

  • Patent number: 5875708
Abstract: A method of controlling the press force on at least one press heating plate along the press length of an operating cycle. For a reduction of specific press force from a maximum press force towards a zero press force, a setting force for a longitudinal deformation of the at least one press heating plate is increased accordingly. For an increase in the specific press force from a zero press force towards a maximum press force, the setting force for the longitudinal deformation of the press heating plates is reduced accordingly. For a reduction of the specific press force from the maximum press force towards the zero press force, the longitudinal gradient tan .beta. is set to be approximately twice as large as the gradient tan .alpha. at the press force maximum. The longitudinal gradient and setting force can thus be controlled along an entire pressing path for an increase or decrease in the specific press force.

  • Patent number: 5853527
Abstract: A double backer for curing the web bonding adhesive and drying the corrugated paperboard web utilizes a web holddown apparatus for maintaining the web in intimate drying contact with the lower heating units which does not require the use of a driven holddown belt. The holddown is provided instead by a series of parallel, flexible, closely spaced strips suspended above the web in the heating section and extending in the direction of web travel. Supplemental holddown force may be provided by banks of spring fingers supported above and in contact with the holddown strips on a transverse support rod which may be rotated to vary the amount of supplemental holddown force. Alternately, the holddown strips may comprise continuous cables in which one run of the cables rests upon the moving web to provide the web holddown and a second run includes high friction cable portions which are movable into driving contact with the upper surface of the web to pull it through the heating section, as for initial web thread up.

  • Patent number: 5791239
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying variable pressure to a moving surface, such as a moving web of corrugated paperboard. The apparatus includes a frame secured to a fixed structure and located proximate to a heated platform. A number of pressure applicators having movable pressure-applying feet are mounted on the frame. The moving surface moves between the heated platform and the feet of the pressure applicators. The pressure-applying feet are movable in a direction substantially perpendicular to the moving surface. This allows the pressure-applying feet to press the moving surface against the heated platform as the moving surface moves between the heated platform and the feet of the pressure applicators. Each pressure applicator may be independently controlled, typically by an inflatable air bladder, to apply variable pressure to the moving surface.

Abstract: A machine for manufacturing corrugated board including one or more flexible, disposable covers for the pressure-applying feet of the machine. The covers prevent wear and tear to the bottoms of the pressure-applying feet and may be easily replaced, as needed. In a belt-driven machine, the disposable covers may be located between the pressure-applying feet and the conveyor belt. In a machine with a beltless hotplate section, the conveyor belt is replaced by a pulling section located downstream from the hotplate section and the disposable covers may be located between the pressure-applying feet and the moving surface. The covers allow the thickness of the corrugated board to be varied while the board is moving through the machine without causing the leading edge of an added layer to catch on the upstream edges of the pressure-applying feet. In addition, the covers and/or the pressure applicators may be moved in the cross-machine direction to minimize waste when manufacturing different widths of corrugated board.
