  • Patent number: 4923384
Abstract: The continuous press for hot pressing a mat as a step in making chipboard, fiberboard, laminated board and similar composite materials comprises heated platens, upper and lower pressing plates and press belts which are guided on roll rods in a pressing region which run between the heated platens and the press belts. The roll rods are guided over a guideway around the upper and/or lower pressing plate with the help of an upper and a lower roll rod circulating mechanism which has guide chains and a roll rod feed mechanism with entrance-end roll rod feed wheels. Roll shoes are located at the entrance end in the vicinity of the guide drums for the pressing belts and the roll rod feed mechanisms. The associated press belts are guided with the roll shoes. The roll shoes also have auxiliary rolls which are guided over another guideway and which are guided on the press belt side over shape-determining guide surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4923560
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting sheet-like textile articles or webs of material. The processing of different materials in apparatuses with heating plates of constant curvature has hitherto, whenever the material to be processed has been changed, required a corresponding exchange of the heating plates in order to ensure the best possible processing of the material as a result of a more or less pronounced curvature of these. The new apparatus of the invention makes this exchange of the heating plates unnecessary by providing a heating plate which is composed of individual hollow-section heating bodies and which is connected to a supporting trestle on which lifting members act in order to adjust the curvature. As a result of this arrangement, the curvature of the heating plate can be adjusted in a reproducible way and thus adapted to the particular requirements, even during operation.

  • Patent number: 4485733
Abstract: An arrangement for the support of press bands in double band presses includes a press band with a roller bed supporting the rear side of the press band. Seals are positioned between the roller bed and the rear side of the press band. A heating plate is disposed within said roller bed and is in spaced relation with the press band. Support-bearing bars are supported on the heating plate and extend between the heating plate and the rear side of the press band. Shafts extend through bores in the support-bearing bars and needle rollers are mounted on the shafts. The ends of the needle rollers in adjacent rows are offset. Filling elements are positioned within and fill out the hollow spaces between the rollers. The parts in the roller bed form rolling gaps, capillary gaps and support bearing gaps and these gaps are limited to a minimum and a lubricant is filled into the gaps.

  • Patent number: 4468287
Abstract: A band press for a fiber web contains a cylinder having a solid surface over which there is guided the fiber web, for instance a paper web, which experiences a pressing or squeezing action in conjunction with a felt or wire and a press band which is impervious for a pressurized fluid medium. To accomplish the pressing or contact action there is provided a press housing containing a plurality of pressure chambers or spaces for pressurized fluid medium and with such pressure chambers operating at different pressures. The paper web is guided in a manner such that it bears upon the surface of the cylinder. The press housing is provided at the location where there outbound or depart the bands with a sharp departure or runnoff edge by means of which the bands are separated from the paper web which continues to remain at the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4467497
Abstract: A method and a machine for the production from relatively thick flat pieces of frozen meat, for example roast beef, of thin slices suitable for roasting or grilling. The method is characterized by the fact that the flat meat pieces, before thawing above the freezing point taking place, are passed through a channel-shaped space of flat rectangular cross-section and of decreasing height in the direction of conveyance, which space is formed between two opposite endless conveying belts running in the same direction and in which the meat pieces are mangled and rolled to a desired final slice thickness substantially without loss of meat juice and blood.

  • Patent number: 4449448
Abstract: In a double band press the compressing pressure is applied to the endless bands by pressure plates via intermediate pressure rolls. The pressure rolls extend transversely to the running direction of the steel bands and are interconnected at their ends by a guide chain. More than two pressure rolls are associated with each pair of connecting bolts of the guide chain. The axes of the pressure rolls are parallel and are offset transversely relative to the axes of the connecting bolts of the guide chain. In this manner, a stable connection of the pressure rolls among themselves is made possible, with the pressure rolls having a smaller diameter and being capable of being arranged closely adjacent to each other. A more uniform and higher distribution of pressure may be obtained thereby.

  • Patent number: 4447334
Abstract: In method for the dewatering of naturally moist, coarse lump peat or of a similar material, the material is continuously fractured into particles to approximately 2-3 cm diameter and is dispersed onto a lower screen belt. With the leading in of a provided upper screen belt the material is conveyed between the two screen belts through a preliminary dewatering zone, where at a pressure which is only given through the tension of the screen belts in a loop on at least one pair of rolls, a homogeneous filter cake is produced. The latter is pressed in a subsequent dewatering zone of a number of pairs of nip rolls at a pressure increasing along the zone between screen belts, whereby in each case between the screen belt and the nip roll a pressure belt, equal in width to the screen belt, is carried long, consisting of an elastic, watertight material, but which is designed to receive and carry away the filtrate and to stabilize the material which is to be pressed.

  • Patent number: 4420359
Abstract: Apparatus for producing reinforced plastic sheets and reinforced plastic sheet laminate structures on a high speed continuous basis and which sheets and laminate structures may have widths ranging from relatively narrow to very wide. The apparatus comprises a means for bringing one or more layers of resin impregnated, fiber-containing, reinforced plastic composite material into contact with each other or into contact with surfaces of one or more endwise abutted relatively flat panels. The apparatus is provided with a pair of continuously rotating belts having a gap there between which receives the laminated sheets. A housing forming a plenum chamber faces the interiorly presented surface of one of the belts and causes a body of pressurized air to be formed between the housing and the interiorly presented surfaces of the belt. Preferably, a similar housing creates a pressurized air body between such similar housing and the other of the belts.
