Abstract: An accumulator device (1) for the tying wire of a tying machine used in pulp production has a drive (3) at the inlet to the accumulator device and another drive (7) at the outlet from the accumulator device. By means of the accumulator device (1) according to the invention and the two drives (3, 7), it is possible to store the entire length of wire required for one tying cycle temporarily and then to remove the wire from the accumulator for the tying cycle. In this way, a dynamic accumulator volume is created for the tying wire in the accumulator device (1).

  • Patent number: 7854195
Abstract: A baler has a bale chamber and a needle movable through the bale chamber to pass a strand of twine from one side of the bale chamber to a knotter located on the opposite side, the twine being engaged by a tip of the needle. In the invention, pressurized air is directed at the needle tip. The supply of pressurized air may be discontinuous and timed to coincide only with certain phases of the needle operating cycle. The air stream avoids crop material being caught up in the knots formed by the knotter.

  • Patent number: 7237477
Abstract: A trash compactor is provided with a channel in the cavity of the trash compactor for allowing string to pass behind and below the compacted trash in the cavity of the trash compactor making it easy to secure the compacted trash in bales before removing the bale from the cavity of the trash compactor. The channels are inside of the bottom and back walls of the cavity and allow a strap therein to draw a string from the top back wall of the cavity to the front of the bottom wall of the cavity. The string can then be extended to circumnavigate the bale and be tied off before removing the bale from the cavity. The straps can be reinserted in the channels ready to pull string around the back and underneath the next bale.

  • Patent number: 5899139
Abstract: A device for baling pinestraw including a compressive chamber with a gate at one end of the chamber, a compressive arm, and a compressive plate adapted for motion along the longitudinal dimension of the compressive chamber. Pinestraw is loaded at the gate end of the compressive chamber and the compressive plate and compressive arm are moved from the opposite end of the compressive chamber toward the gated end of the compressive chamber compressing the pinestraw contained in the compressive chamber. The compressive motion of the compressive plate and compressive arm is stopped when the pinestraw is compressed to the desired size. The compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale through slots in the compressive chamber, the gate, and the compressive plate. Once the compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale, the gate at one end of the compressive chamber is opened.

  • Patent number: 5699727
Abstract: A method of and a device for manually tying bales of cardboard, foils and similar used packaging materials produced in waste material presses predominantly of upright construction, i.e., with a vertically acting pressure ram. The method includes the steps of separating the free end of the binding wire from the point where it is secured to the front side of the base and pulling out a free length of wire slightly exceeding the length of the dimensions of bale height plus bale depth, grasping the binding wire extending in a vertical groove in the rear wall of the press by means of the hook-shaped free end of the pulling needle, pulling the loop of binding wire formed in this manner by means of the pulling needle through the groove in the bottom of the pressure ram into a position located in front of the finished bale, separating the wire loop in the pulled-out position, and swinging upwardly the remaining length of wire at the bottom and tying together the two free ends of the binding wire.

  • Patent number: 5333438
Abstract: An improved power strapping machine comprising a strapping device and a soft touch package compression device. The strapping device includes plurality of coils for supplying strapping to a guide apparatus. A chute apparatus for routing strapping around an article or package to be strapped is connected to the guide apparatus. The machine includes sensors and a control circuit adapted to operate the machine continuously without the need to stop production, since when one coil is out of strapping or a misfeed occurs, the machine will automatically load another coil of strapping and continue strapping packages. The soft touch package compression device uses pneumatic-drive chain drive systems for moving soft belts up and down. The soft belts compress the package so that the strapping device can place a tight strap around the package.

  • Patent number: 5255597
Abstract: Wire catch for a baler comprising an elongated wire catch body having between a fixed end and a free end thereof a recess in which is suspended a wheel. The axis of rotation of the wheel is directed substantially transverse to the centerline of the wire catch body. The recess comprises a first guide surface adjoining a circumferential portion of the wheel that faces the fixed end. A second guide surface is provided opposite the first guide surface, which second surface converges towards the first guide surface in the direction of the free end of the wire catch body. According to the invention, the second guide surface is constituted by a portion, located remote from the first guide surface, of the circumferential portion of the wheel that faces the fixed end. The invention prevents the space between the first and the second guide surfaces from becoming clogged with compressed material.

  • Patent number: 4119023
Abstract: A threader device designed to simplify the threading of strapping tapes around and under a load to be strapped to a pallet or other load supporting device having a pair of apertures extending substantially horizontally through its base, with the threader device involving a framework having a pair of substantially parallel, elongate threader bars extending outwardly from its base for a distance sufficient to pass through the load supporting device. The threader bars are disposed slightly above ground level and spaced apart a distance consistent with the spacing of the apertures of the load supporting device. Tape dispensing means are carried on the framework, and arranged to dispense a pair of strapping tapes. The threader bars each have tape securing means on their outer ends, such that the ends of a pair of strapping tapes from the tape dispensing means can be removably secured to respective ones of the tape securing means.

  • Patent number: 4102260
Abstract: The needle is of tubular frame construction, having a generally overall triangular configuration by virtue of two longitudinally extending, eccentrically arcuate structural members that converge to a point of intersection as the tip of the needle is approached. Gussets between the two members brace the same against deflection toward and away from one another, and one of the members extends outwardly beyond the point of intersection to terminate as the tip of the needle. Such longer member has a transversely inverted U-shaped configuration rather than being completely tubular so as to define a receiving channel for a strand of tying material that is retained by the tip of the needle as the latter swings into operation.
