  • Patent number: 4041856
Abstract: An improved baling machine for compacting loose waste material, such as paper, cardboard and the like. A pair of hydraulic cylinders, oriented crosswise to one another, when energized, cause a platen to move downward within a cabinet structure to compress the waste material contained therein. Because of the manner in which the hydraulic cylinders are pivotally mounted with respect to the cabinet frame and the movable platen, the force applied to the material to be baled increases as the stroke of the cylinder piston increases. Also, a unique arrangement of platen guide bars, cooperating with guide slots in the cabinet frame, prevent the platen from tipping and binding during the traversal of the platen.

  • Patent number: 4022123
Abstract: A garbage compactor has a rigid frame structure with a lower horizontal base plate, an upper horizontal top plate connected by three interconnecting vertical bars. An octagonal container positioned between the base plate and top plate is pivotally connected to and slidable on one of the interconnecting bars to swing outwardly for loading and unloading with a hydraulic cylinder on the top plate operating to compress garbage in the container. A hinged wall section of the container is operable to permit removal of a bag insert when filled with compacted garbage.

  • Patent number: 4007677
Abstract: A waste compacting system for use in commerical establishments is described. Refuse to be compacted is fed via a chute into a first chamber and when a given level is reached, a first hydraulically actuated ram is automatically or manually activated to push the refuse from the collecting chamber into a compacting chamber. A second hydraulically actuated ram or platen then operates to apply a high compaction force to the refuse, forcing it into a container in the bottom of the compaction chamber. An electrical control network which includes various interlocks insures safe and reliable operation of the system.

  • Patent number: 4002115
Abstract: This invention pertains to a baling press incorporating a press box defining two side-by-side bale pressing chambers and a single press platen selectively, vertically, reciprocatingly operative in the upper portions of said two chambers, and a pair of doors in the front wall of the press box, hingedly operable in horizontal swinging movements for access into the respective bale pressing chambers. A hydraulic ram assembly, operatingly connected to the platen, is mounted atop a carriage which is manually movable along track means fixed atop the press box for selective alignment with either of the bale pressing chambers. Electric interlock means are provided to prevent operation of the ram unless both doors are completely closed and the platen is perfectly aligned vertically with one of the bale pressing chambers.

  • Patent number: 3985072
Abstract: A baling chamber for fibers and the like having a pair of side walls and a pair of end walls, one of the end walls being split vertically and with its halves pivotally mounted to the pivoted side doors. Linkage mechanism is associated with the split end door to cause its parts to move away from the bale and away from each other when the side doors are opened. The mechanism also includes improved means for locking the walls together, such as a floating locking bar carried by one of the side walls and disposed to engage the free end of one of the other walls. A contoured slot in a part of the wall causes the locking bar to assume proper locking and unlocking positions.

  • Patent number: 3967548
Abstract: A waste compactor comprising a frame, a compactor member movable on the frame into and out of a cart associated with the frame. The cart is removable from the frame and comprises two sections pivoted to one another about a generally horizontal axis. When in one position, the sections define a bottom wall, side walls, and end walls having an open end for receiving a disposable waste container. The cart is removable from the frame so that one of the sections may be pivoted about the horizontal axis upwardly to move one of the end walls out of position in order that the disposable container can be removed by horizontal movement.

  • Patent number: 3955492
Abstract: A baler comprises a container with an upper open end, a lid hinged on a rear upper edge of the container and a platen mounted on the lid for compressing the material to be baled. The platen slides up and down through a hole in the lid, and hydraulic rams are used for lowering and raising the platen and for lifting and lowering the lid together with the platen. The container has an upper front door which is hinged at its lower end on a horizontal axis and there is a linkage between the lid and the door so that when the lid and platen are pivoted upwardly and rearwardly, the door pivots downwardly and forwardly, with the result that a hopper mouth of large area is formed into which the material to be baled can be placed.

  • Patent number: RE28748
Abstract: A baler having an improved hydraulically driven toggle mechanism for operating a baler pressing platen, improved bale ejector, and improved baler door latch. The toggle mechanism includes opposed pairs of first and second arms .Iadd.foldably joined together at their ends with their other respective ends joined to a pressing box and a pressing platen. The opposed sets of arms are mutually oriented so that as the platen is moved to a withdrawn position, the first and second arms of one set interfold compactly and without interference across the respective first and second arms of the opposed set .Iaddend. .[.and second arms, each first arm of which is a generally C-shaped bell crank arm. The first arms are connected.]. to provide a pressing mechanism which is compact but nonetheless has a long pressing stroke to facilitate production of a large bale in only a few pressing strokes.
