  • Patent number: 9555142
Abstract: The method for the heat treatment of waste includes introducing the waste by into a bag and placing the bag inside an apparatus for treating waste, the apparatus including a cylindrical barrel, a removable closure lid and a bottom moveable inside the barrel, at least in the direction of the lid. After the bag has been placed in the apparatus heat treatment of waste is carried out by raising the temperature of the lid and the bottom and by providing this lid and this bottom with a hold temperature. At least during the rise in temperature of the lid and the bottom, and before the hold temperature is reached, this lid and this bottom are moved towards each other at least once. A temperature conferred on the lid differs by at most 2° C. from the temperature of the bottom.

  • Patent number: 8156863
Abstract: A manually-actuated waste compressing system includes a waste receptacle; a waste bag; a lid removably mated to the waste receptacle and a compression implement. The manually-actuated compression implement includes an elongated dowel and a disc, and is centrally aligned within an inner perimeter of the waste receptacle and linearly reciprocated along a linear travel path of the waste receptacle to compress garbage contained within the receptacle. A light source is electrically communicated by a pair of contacts and alerts a user when an undesirable compression of the garbage is reached. The apparatus provides the benefit of compacting garbage without having to make direct contact therewith thus allowing more garbage to be stored within the waste receptacle before disposal. The light source additionally ensures that the apparatus may not be unduly damage by excessive pressure when compacting garbage.

  • Patent number: 5279215
Abstract: A machine for crushing oil filters and collecting the oil therefrom. The machine has a piston and cylinder assembly for moving a crushing member into a crushing chamber to crush an oil filter. A control valve controls the supply of hydraulic fluid to the piston and cylinder assembly. Air under pressure is also supplied to the piston and cylinder assembly to move the crushing member back to its initial position. A lock is mounted on the actuator of the control valve for holding a door providing access to the crushing chamber in the closed position. When the actuator is moved to a position to allow fluid to flow to the cylinder the door is locked in the closed position. A second lock structure maintains the door in the closed position during the time that the crushing member is performing the crushing operation. The crushing member must be moved to its initial position to release the second lock structure before the door can be opened.

  • Patent number: 5201266
Abstract: A baler machine including a charging chamber for receiving material to be baled. The charging chamber has a charging passage through which material is forced into a baling compression chamber by a compression ram to thereby form a bale in the compression chamber. An ejection ram is provided for forcing the compressed material out of the baling compression chamber through an exit passageway. A movable decompression wall functions as one wall of the baling compression chamber. Such wall is located opposite and spaced from the charging passage through which material is forced from the charging chamber. A power cylinder is provided to move the decompression wall in a horizontal direction to effectively increase the volume of the baling compression chamber which, at the same time, increases the size of the exit passageway to thereby permit ejection of an oversized bale from the compression chamber.

Abstract: Apparatus for crushing and severely reducing the overall dimensions of used fluid filters before they are discarded includes a housing assembly having a base portion, a head portion, and side wall portions joining the base portion to the head portion. First and second cylindrical sleeves positioned within the housing substantially completely enclose each filter during the crushing operation. During the crushing operation, each filter rests on the base portion and a hydraulically operated ram assembly forces a piston against the filter and crushes the filter between the base portion and the piston. The side walls portions and the first cylindrical sleeve restrict lateral movement of the piston and filter during the crushing operation. A considerable amount of used fluid is re-claimed from the filters as a result of the crushing operation.

Abstract: A trash compactor is provided having at least a hollow compaction chamber rtically disposed on a base and a compacting ram slidaly fitted within the compaction chamber, such that the compacting ram is disposed above the trash to be compacted. The trash to be compacted is first loaded into the compaction chamber between the base and the compacting ram. A downward compaction force is then applied to the compacting ram to compact the trash within the compaction chamber to the required density. The downward compaction force is then maintained while the compaction chamber is removed from around the compacted trash. Finally, the downward compaction force is removed from the compacting ram thereby leaving a compacted trash slug. The trash may be wetted prior to compaction to further enhance the delamination characteristics of the trash slug.

  • Patent number: 4848222
Abstract: A process for the transportation and subsequent final compression of, for example, synthetic fiber material from rough filling presses to a central press utilizes thin-walled filling bins for the initial precompression. In the rough presses, the fiber material is deposited into the thin-walled filling bins, the filling bins are then transported to the central press, transferred at that location one after the other into the compressing position of the central press, thereafter an additional compression bin is placed over the filling bin in such a way that the walls of the filling bin are in close contact with the inner surface of the walls of the compression bin, and finally the final compression step is performed. With a final compacting pressure being maintained unchanged, the filling bin as well as the walls of the compression bin are pulled off in the upward direction in order to make it possible to package and reinforce the finished bale.
