  • Patent number: 10649497
Abstract: A process for performing localized corrective actions to structure of an electronic device is described. The structure may include a mating surface configured to receive another structured such that the two structures may be, for example, adhesively bonded together. The localized corrective actions are configured not to improve the mating surface but to also prevent light within the electronic device from escaping in undesired areas of the electronic device. In some embodiments, the corrective action includes using a removal tool to remove identified portions of the surface. In other embodiments, the corrective action includes using a different tool to add material identified portions of the surface. The identified means may include an automated inspection system.

  • Patent number: 9365061
Abstract: An external table height adjustment technique for a printer system is disclosed. An operator can align an image gap between a printer table of the printer system and a printhead carriage via a height adjustment mechanism. The operator can perform the table height adjustment while a belt is installed on the printer table and media is loaded on top of the printer table. A height adjustment assembly is secured onto a supporting frame of the printer table such that an adjustment component exposed beyond an edge of the belt can raise or lower a portion of the printer table where the height adjustment assembly is secured.

  • Patent number: 8172968
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for contacting a flexible sheet to a first element with improved lateral alignment. The method includes a step of measuring a first lateral misalignment after establishing a first contact between the flexible sheet and either of the first element and a sheet parking surface called anchor in the first stage. If the 5 misalignment exceeds a predetermined threshold the flexible sheet is parked at the anchor such that it is not in contact with the first element, and the relative position of the first element and the anchor is altered during the second stage for correcting the mismatch during a contact between the flexible sheet and the first element to be established within the next step of the method. During the steps of shifting the contact point to obtain the second stage 10 the contacting process is more accurate and reproducible than the process for establishing the initial contact.

  • Patent number: 5435244
Abstract: A carriage (22.28) is slidably mounted on a pair of shafts (22.20,22.22) and moves between protracted and retracted positions. A pusher element (22.32) extends downwardly from the the carriage and has a free distal end portion (22.34) attached to a rod (22.36) of a pneumatic cylinder (22.38) which extends in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axes of the shafts. A print head support body (22.44) is pivotably attached to the pusher element adjacent the distal end portion (22.34) and has a pair of followers (22.50) extending laterally from the support body and which are received in track means (22.14) formed in side walls (22.12). The print head support body assumes a first angular orientation at a printing station (22.52) when the carriage is in the protracted position and a second, different angular orientation at an ink replenishing station (22.54) when the carriage is in the retracted position. The track has a path portion (22.

  • Patent number: 4233900
Abstract: A label strip charging mechanism for use in a hand labeler which is equipped with a feed mechanism having a feeding roller for feeding a continuous label strip: The label strip charging mechanism includes a pressure plate which is made pivotable with respect to the hand labeler and which is formed with a curved surface that follows the profile of the outer periphery of the feeding roller. A coil spring is connected to the pressure plate so as to normally bias the plate away from the feeding roller. A snap connection is used to retain the pressure plate in the vicinity of the feeding roller, against the bias of the coil spring at a position to form a restricted passage for the label strip. An actuating lever of the pressure plate is manually operated to release the snap connection so that the pressure plate can be moved away from the feeding roller by the action of the coil spring to establish an enlarged clearance thereby to facilitate charging of the label strip.

  • Patent number: 4201133
Abstract: A printing pressure damping mechanism for use with a hand labeler: a hand lever is pivotally connected to the frame of the hand labeler. A printing head is carried by the hand lever so that it may move toward a printing platen when the hand lever is squeezed. An auxiliary lever is spaced from the hand lever and is movable to and from the hand lever. A shock absorbing coil spring is interposed under compression between the hand lever and the auxiliary lever so as to bias the levers apart. The auxiliary lever further moves against the biasing force of the coil spring when the printing head abuts the platen, so that the squeezing force which might otherwise be applied as a printing force by the printing head to the platen can be damped to a preset lever through the spring biased cooperation of the two levers. The platen is also spring biased to damp printing pressure.

  • Patent number: 4048913
Abstract: A printing apparatus for webs continuously moving along a path wherein a printing head is cyclically displaced along a further path which includes a portion extending substantially along the web path, the printing head engaging the web against a displaceable back-up member while traversing said portion of its path, the print head being spaced from the web path during the remaining portion of each cycle. Apparatus is provided for selectively adjusting the velocity of the print head while in engagement with the web and back-up member so that the print head and web are moving at substantially the same velocity. The print head may be a heated die, in which case a heat-released pigment bearing strip is incrementally advanced to the region intermediate the print head and web when the print head is spaced from the web and is engaged against the web by the heated die when the print head engages the web.
