Abstract: A method for constructing a railway track (VI) on a bed (5), includes: removing at least one rail (R12) in front of a train used to store and lay rails, in the axis of the train, using removal elements secured to the train, the train being stopped on a first, already constructed, portion of the track under construction; and moving the at least one rail at least indirectly onto cross-members of the track under construction, so as to construct a second portion of the track as an extension of the first portion. A method for constructing a first and second railway track on a bed, and a method in which a first track portion and then a second track portion are alternately constructed with the same train used to store and lay rails while moving forward along an already constructed portion of a first track, are also described.

Abstract: A method for constructing at least one railway track (V1, V2) on a platform (5), wherein the permanent crosspieces are placed at the substantially permanent site thereof essentially through the use of railway vehicles (20, 30, 40). Crosspiece deposits are pre-formed on the platform (5) and along at least one track to be constructed (V1, V2) via railway vehicles. The method also includes the placement of rails on the crosspieces. The rails are pushed in front of a placement car for the first track (V1) and are deposited by sliding same out of a rail storage and placement train in a direction to the rear of the train and skewed in relation to the axis of the train for the second track (V2).

Abstract: An anchor cribbing machine includes a pair of ballast cribbing assemblies and a pair of rail clamp assemblies. The ballast cribbing assemblies are hydraulically-driven to push ballast away from the opposing sides of a railroad tie so that an anchor may be applied to the rail at the tie location. The ballast cribbing assemblies include support beams that are movable longitudinally relative to the rails and rotatable between an operative and a stowed position. The rail clamp assemblies are configured to engage the rail to prevent the machine from being driven off the rails in operation.

Abstract: A method for installing railway tracks onto ballast beds avoiding the need for installing any type of auxiliary track. The method comprises successive stages to be carried out after having located the sleepers onto the ballast bed, consisting of fixing and laying of a pair of rails from a mini train, for the transport of the rails with the fastening and traction of same up to their complete unloading, the operation being guided by means of a discharge wagon; supporting the rails on rollers for the longitudinal movement thereof; cutting, squaring and fixing the adjacent ends to the consecutive rails; raising the rail with the help of a crane, and removing the rollers; partial fastening of the track and placement of the rollers for the next cycle, and removing the tractor from the mini train, and the final fastening of the rails.

  • Publication number: 20120248214
Abstract: The invention relates to a trackbed liner which has a particular utility in a railway trackbed, as well as in other trackbeds such as tram trackbeds. The trackbed liner may include an upper support layer; a lower support layer; and at least one middle filtration layer of a material having a plurality of pores and which is normally impermeable to liquid water. In use and under the load of a vehicle acting on the trackbed, the filtration layer permits passage of liquid water upwardly therethrough but restricts the passage of solids materials, so as to restrict pumping erosion of material located beneath the liner. The trackbed liner may be used to renovate a trackbed comprising ballast contaminated with clay particles. The method includes removing contaminated ballast; laying the trackbed liner; and locating fresh ballast on an upper surface of the liner to provide a renovated trackbed.

Abstract: A method for delivering ballast to a section of railroad track includes measuring an existing ballast profile of a section of railroad track using a remote sensing system, and providing a signal indicative thereof to a first computer. Using the first computer, the existing ballast profile is compared with an ideal ballast profile to compute a track file representing a volume of additional ballast needed as a function of linear position along the section of railroad track, and data representing the track file is transmitted to a second computer of an automatic ballast dump train. Ballast is dumped along the section of railroad track according to the track file under control of the second computer.

Abstract: The compression of ballast for a rail track takes place after two-stage cleaning by a cleaning machine. For this purpose, cleaned ballast is dispensed and a first ballast layer is thereby formed. The rail track which is laid on the first ballast layer has lateral oscillations imparted to it by a front stabilization unit, and the first ballast layer is thereby compressed. The formation of a second ballast layer takes place by a second chute, which second ballast layer is subsequently compressed by a rear stabilization unit.
