Patent number: 4969952Abstract: A novel aqueous release agent is described, which contains as release-active subtances oil and/or wax emulsified in water as the carrier and which also contains as a further release-active substance one or more aliphatic primary, secondary and/or tertiary amines with at least one C.sub.12 -C.sub.24 alkyl radical and one or more ammonium salts as the emulsifier for the amine or amines. The invention is based on the surprising finding that hydrophobic amines (so-called fatty amines) are release-active substances. It has also surprisingly been found according to the invention that when using ammonium salts as the emulsifier, mould removal characteristics are not only impaired, but often even improved, which is not the case with conventional emulsifiers. The release agent according to the invention is particularly suitable in processes for producing polyurethane foam articles.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1989Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: Grace Service Chemicals GmbHInventors: Thomas Hattich, William Krug, Gerhard Schuster

Patent number: 4426229Abstract: In contrast to hydrocarbon waxes, alpha-olefin waxes can be oxidized with little if any reduction in hardness. The oxidized product can be used as such or further reacted with polyisocyanates to yield isocyanated products. Salts of the isocyanated products (preferably lithium salts) are also prepared which are capable of forming colloidal solutions. These solutions preferably in hydrocarbons have superior film-forming properties when used in polishes, thus yielding when applied to a surface a finish of high gloss, durability, protection, etc. The isocyanated products and salts thereof when employed in carbon paper inks yield a carbon paper having superior properties.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1980Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Assignee: Petrolite CorporationInventors: Malcolm E. Patent number: 4406705Abstract: Water-emulsifiable hard waxes consisting of homogeneous terpolymers of ethylene with--based on weight of terpolymer--from 1 to 8% by weight of C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids and from 0.5 to 10% by weight of C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkyl esters of such unsaturated carboxylic acids and having a Staudinger index, determined according to DIN 53,728, of from 5 to 55, an acid number of from 8 to 62 and a Hoppler hardness, measured by DFG standard method M-III-9a(57), at 23.degree. C., of from 250 to 800 bar, are obtained by copolymerizing ethylene with olefinically unsaturated C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -carboxylic acids and esters of such acids with C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkanols in a continuous process in the presence of a free radical initiator at from 150.degree. to 300.degree. C. under a pressure of from 1,000 to 3,000 bar, using a weight ratio of ethylene:acid:acrylate of from 500:1:1 to 20:1:1, in a one-phase polymerization medium in which the monomers are soluble, in the presence of from 0.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1982Date of Patent: September 27, 1983Assignee: BASF AktiengesellschaftInventors: Dieter Oeder, Wolfram Dietsche, Stefan Weiss, Walter Ziegler, Albert Hettche

Patent number: 4404239Abstract: Water repellent treating compositions are based upon olefin and paraffin materials containing a substantial proportion of compounds containing from 20 to 24 carbon atoms. The treating compositions are especially useful for application to wood. Additives such as wood preservatives, alkyd resins and, in especially preferred compositions, organic ionizable compounds are included. The preferred compositions are useful for application to wood substrates which are subsequently electrostatically sprayed with a topcoating.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1982Date of Patent: September 13, 1983Assignee: PPG Industries, Inc.Inventor: John F.
