Patent number: 6746530Abstract: In general, increased video image contrast is achieved by reducing light transmission through an antistatic/antireflective (ASAR) coating disposed on the surface of the display screen of a cathode ray tube (CRT) by adding an organic dye to the coating. A silane coupling agent is added to the coating to prevent diffusion of the dye out of the coating which gives rise to undesirable water marks on the display screen. However, the silane coupling agent at the required concentrations weakens the mechanical strength of the coating, reduces its electrical conductivity, and changes its light reflective index. To avoid this, two or more different silane coupling agents are added to the ASAR coating with the plural silane coupling agents having an additive, or combining, effect which allows for the use of reduced amounts of the coupling agents and avoids the aforementioned problems. One agent is hydrophobic, while the other bonds to the organic dye.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2001Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Chunghwa Pictures Tubes, Ltd.Inventor: Shi-Sheng Wang

Publication number: 20040099183Abstract: A sol-gel mixer based upon a supply of water or alcohol solvent, a supply of acid, a supply of zirconium alkoxide, and a supply of organosilane, has a series of valves and pumps which provide a first supply of acid and zirconium alkoxide to an agitated pre-mix vessel where the components are allowed to dwell. The solvent and organosilane are then combined with the output from the pre-mix vessel, which is agitated in a final-mix vessel to create a sol-gel. The mixed sol-gel may be aged within the final-mix vessel until ready for use. A series of automated control elements, including valves and pumps, are placed throughout the system to automatically control the volumetric flow of the components through the system in accordance with predetermined parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2002Publication date: May 27, 2004Applicant: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Richard G. Publication number: 20040076842Abstract: A coating composition containing a zirconium compound and a silicon compound is applied on a conductor 1 and baked to develop a ceramic insulating coating 2. A bonding agent made by dissolving a polyamide resin or a polyimide resin into an organic agent is then applied on the ceramic insulating coating 2 and baked to develop a fusible coating 3. This produces a self-fusible ceramic insulation coated wire which can retain the favorable properties of coil at high temperatures. Also, it can be used as windings such as high-power loudspeaker voice coils.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2003Publication date: April 22, 2004Inventors: Toshihiro Ishigaki, Yoshitaka Kobayashi, Tomoyuki Shimada, Masatake Uehara

Patent number: 6713526Abstract: A curable slurry for forming ceramic microstructures on a substrate using a mold. The slurry is a mixture of a ceramic powder, a fugitive binder, and a diluent. The ceramic powder has a low softening temperature in a range of about 400° C. to 600° C. and a coefficient of thermal expansion closely matched to that of the substrate. The fugitive binder is capable of radiation curing, electron beam curing, or thermal curing. The diluent promotes release properties with the mold after curing the binder or quick and complete burn out of the binder during debinding.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2002Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Kenneth R. Publication number: 20040052939Abstract: Silica surfaces are contacted with compositions containing organosilicon compounds to prepare modified silica fillers. The compositions contain only organosilicon compounds which are monomeric dichlorosilanes and trialkoxysilanes. The treating compositions may be (i) mixtures or blends of dialkyldichlorosilanes, and trialkoxysilanes free of hydrocarbon or organofunctional groups reactive with silica surfaces, or (ii) mixtures or blends of substituted dialkyldichlorosilanes in which the substituted dialkyldichlorosilanes are free of hydrocarbon or organofunctional groups reactive with silica surfaces, and trialkoxysilanes free of hydrocarbon or organofunctional groups reactive with silica surfaces. These mixtures and blends contain dialkyldichlorosilanes and trialkoxysilanes in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 1:2, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2003Publication date: March 18, 2004Inventors: Lisa Marie Boswell, Csilla Kollar, Anthony Revis, Anil Kumar Tomar
