Abstract: The present invention is directed to ready to use (wet) and setting (dry) repair products with antistatic additives having reduced persistent airborne dust particulates upon sanding thereof. Such wet and dry repair products include, in part, an antistatic additive(s) that can reduce or eliminate the static charge that forms in dust particulates when dried repair products, such as spackling compounds, cementitious materials, and joint compounds, are sanded, for example. In turn, this can help reduce the quantity of airborne dust particulates, the time in which they are suspended, and the distance they travel in a given room or job site. In one example, a repair product for use as a dry repair compound can include an anti-static additive, which can include a cationic charge, and optionally a metal complex. In another example, the repair product further includes water to define a wet or ready to use repair product.

Abstract: A filter for treating CO2 from a CO2-emitting industrial plant, takes advantage of the fact that peridotite igneous rocks (or material of similar chemical content: basalt, gabbro, dunite, amphibolites, artificially produced Ca, Mg oxides) which are abundant on and close to the Earth's surface, can absorb and contain CO2 gases resultant from industrial activity. This chemical process occurs naturally, but has not been utilized to capture high concentrations of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. Calcium and magnesium oxides of the peridotite react with CO2 to form stable carbonate minerals. The invention enhances and expedites this natural process for the remediation of industrial pollutants such as CO2 from the oil, gas, coal, cement/concrete and like CO2-emitting industries, and provides a resource for materials in construction (concrete), steel, aviation and agricultural and other industries.

  • Patent number: 8088213
Abstract: A method of preparing a stable dispersion of flocculated filler particles for use in papermaking processes comprises sequential addition of a first flocculating agent to an aqueous dispersion of filler particles followed by shearing of the dispersion, followed by addition of a second flocculating agent to the dispersion and further shearing of the resultant filler flocs to the desired particle size resulting in shear resistant filler flocs with a defined and controllable size distribution. In addition, a neutralizing coagulant can be added to the dispersion to partially or completely neutralize the charge of the filler before the first flocculating agent is added.

  • Patent number: 8075684
Abstract: An aqueous liquid solution containing soluble salts of coloring metals—particularly manganese and ferric nitrate along with a sugar source and fulvic and/or humic acid can be readily applied to rock, soil or artificial construction surfaces impart a natural color tone to such surfaces. In this manner the visibility manmade disturbances is quickly and easily reduced and disturbed areas readily blend into the natural background. The liquid solution can be readily sprayed on rock or other surfaces. When the ambient temperature is warm natural color will develop in 4-8 days.

Abstract: The invention has an object to provide a heavyweight fine aggregate and a heavyweight aggregate for a stiff heavyweight concrete having a slump of 0 to 3 cm, in which segregation from the cement paste is unlikely to occur, and to provide a stiff heavyweight concrete having a slump of 0 to 3 cm, using the heavyweight fine aggregate and heavyweight aggregate. The heavyweight fine aggregate comprises no less than 20 wt % of aggregate having a particle size smaller than 0.15 mm, and no less than 20 wt % of aggregate having a particle size from 2.5 mm to less than 5 mm. The above feature allows effectively inhibiting segregation between the aggregate and cement paste when blending the aggregate into the heavyweight concrete, and allows effectively increasing the filling rate in boxes when blending the aggregate into the heavyweight concrete for box filling.
