    Abstract: The hardenable mortar composition consists of a bonding agent component including a hydraulic bonding agent, such as cement, gypsum or mortar, and a paste-forming agent consisting of a liquid solvent inert with respect to the hydraulic bonding agent, and an aqueous component kept separate from the bonding agent component until the two components are mixed to form a hardened mortar composition. The aqueous component includes water and a hydrophobic adsorbent or absorbent. The hydrophobic adsorbent or absorbent is included in the aqueous component to avoid the emergence of the paste-forming agent, which is at the very least unsightly, when the aqueous component is mixed with the bonding agent component. The hydrophobic adsorbent or absorbent binds the paste-forming agent which would otherwise escape during mixing and remains as an inert additive in the setting mortar composition, without reducing the hardness thereof.

    Abstract: A thermal process co-recycles tires with oils to produce gases, liquids and solids. The latter consisting of glass and steel fibers and a carbonous residue which are separately segregated and collected. By using selected additives gas formation and hydrogen sulfide contents are reduced, light product oil yields and quality are maximized and the level of chlorinated substances in the oils are reduced to trace amounts. The carbonous residue makes an excellent modifier for improving performance properties of bituminous binders and bituminous mixtures and for providing added benefits to properties of Portland concrete.

    Abstract: Excavated earth from construction sites may be recycled as backfilling material or grout by incorporating it into a hydraulic composite. This is done firstly by blending excavated soil with a solidifying quantity of a hydraulic material and a fluidifying quantity of water and at least one first admixture selected from the group consisting of hydroxycarboxylic acids, phosphonic acid derivatives and saccharides and derivatives thereof, and blending the mixture thus created with a cement-dispersing agent at a time between the addition of the hydraulic material and the commencement of set of the hydraulic material. The hydraulic composites thus created have good fluidity, good final strength and low proneness to cracking.

    Abstract: A weather resistant soil cement with an open pore structure for resisting freeze-thaw damage is formed of cement, fly ash, Free aggregates, water, and an aqueous foamed surfactant, and other application specific additives. The material is uniquely suited for using indigenous soils, mill tailings, or granular waste products as the aggregate component of the mixture, although commercially produced aggregates may be used depending on economics and availability. Due to its low density and flowable nature, it can be pumped or placed by gravity and without compaction. The resulting product is a low density material with construction and mining applications, that is suited for use as a fill or mad base. Specific product formulations are easily designed to permit removal at local sites with conventional excavating equipment.
