  • Patent number: 9157632
Abstract: The invention relates to a water-cooled sliding combustion grate, comprising a combination of movable grate plates (6) and stationary grate plates (5). The length of the grate plates (5, 6) passing over the grate track width is more than 6 meters. The movable grate plates (6) are driven by one parallel drive each, which comprises two separate drive units, which can each move a respective end area of a movable grate plate (6) back and forth, wherein the two drive units can be synchronized. To separate the primary air transversely over the grate track over a plurality of areas, at least one partition can extend along the grate track under the grate. Each partition is moved along with the lower faces of the grate plates (5, 6) at the upper edge of said partitions so that said partitions are fully connected everywhere to the lower faces of the grate plates.

Abstract: A combustion apparatus for a refuse incinerator has a plurality of rows of grates arranged in parallel in the directions of breadth and in series in the longitudinal directions of a combustion zone and a post-combustion zone of the combustion apparatus. The rows consist of immobile grates and mobile grates alternately arranged. Immobile girders support the immobile grates. Mobile girders support the mobile grates. A partition wall divides the combustion apparatus into the combustion zone and the post-combustion zone. Seals cooperates with the mobile girders and are located on the partition wall. A hydraulic cylinder shuttles the mobile girders. Bearing housings are mounted on upper protrusions of the mobile girders holding the mobile grates so as to be able to vibrate.

Abstract: A grate structure for a horizontal type incinerator has a plurality of rows of grates arranged in parallel in perpendicular X and Y directions of the incinerator. Each X-direction row has a series of immovable grates and a series of movable grates alternating with the immovable grates. The immovable grates and movable grates are supported at a predetermined angle of .theta..sub.1 relative to a surface of the immovable supporting member. The immovable grates are pivotally mounted on an immovable support and the movable grates are pivotally mounted on a sawtooth shaped movable support. The free forward end of each grate rests on the adjacent grate. The movable grates are reciprocated back and forth along the upper surfaces of the immovable grates. In the Y direction, each row of grates is pivoted on a common axle by way of a common bearing member.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a grate plate utilized in a cooling apparatus. Substantially the entire surface area of the exposed surface, that is, the surface of the grate plate that is not overlapped by a preceding grate plate, is recessed from its outside perimeter. The recessed exposed area is defined by alternating rows of (1) substantially tubular, hollow air distribution conduits that travel substantially the entire length of the recessed exposed area in a direction parallel to the movement of solid material through the cooling apparatus. The tubular air distribution conduits have two side walls and a top surface with which the solid material transported to the cooling apparatus comes into contact, and (2) narrow, open, secondary air distribution channels that also travel substantially the entire length of the recessed exposed area in a direction parallel to the movement of solid material through the cooling apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5069146
Abstract: A grate for a fuel boiler, consisting of plates arranged stepwise or in a cascading fashion, with at least two fixed plates and a movable plate disposed between the two fixed plates. The movable plate is capable of reciprocating to and fro and is provided with an appropriate drive. Combustion air passes through the interspace between the movable and fixed plates and allows for controlled and complete combustion of the fuel. The fixed plates are fastened to a common first holder and the movable plates are fastened to a common second holder. The fastening of each plate to its individual holder is vertically-adjustable. Preferably, the air utilized for combustion of the fuel is only that which has passed through, and preferably been drawn through, the interspace between the movable and fixed plates.
