  • Patent number: 4860678
Abstract: This invention is based on an idea of an electronic sewing machine where most controls in earlier machines have been replaced by a combined control (11,13) consisting of an arrangement for guiding a cursor on a graphic screen (10) built into the machine as well as an activation device (13). The graphic screen is the unit talking to the operator by means of pictures or texts on different menus (complete screen pictures) and describing the functions performable by the machine. The graphic screen also functions as a listener. The operator guides the cursor so that it points at a field which e.g. consists of a picture or a text and simultaneously he activates the activation device. Then the operation, particular for this very field, is carried out. Via software an arbitrary number of menus are created which consist, in their turn, of activation fields by which the operator communicates with the machine.

  • Patent number: 4817547
Abstract: A sewing maching having associated modules which can be inserted at will and which are interchangeable in a guide of the housing of the machine. The front side of the plate-shaped modules is visible in the inserted condition of the module and is provided with stitch symbols to which are assigned numbers. On the inside of the modules are arranged memories, preferably in connection with a microprocessor, which are in connection with the microprocessor of the sewing machine when the modules are inserted. By means of keys and a display, the number corresponding to the desired stitch sort can be selected and the control data from the memories of the module will be recalled in the microprocessor of the sewing machine and then used for controlling operation of the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 4704974
Abstract: A system is disclosed for selectively assigning stitch patterns that are to be automatically sewn by a sewing machine. The system displays size information relative to stitch patterns which may be sewn by the sewing machine. The operator selects a displayed size from the thus displayed size information. This system is operative to identify a stored stitch pattern which corresponds to the selected size. The thus identified stitch pattern may be thereafter automatically sewn each time a workpiece of that size is presented to the sewing machine.
