Open Side Applicator Support Patents (Class 118/228)
  • Patent number: 6678581
Abstract: A method of calibrating a wafer edge gripping end effector. A wafer calibration tool is held in a stationary position simulating the position of a semiconductor wafer to be picked up by the wafer edge gripping end effector. A controller associated with a robot having an end effector attached to a robot arm thereto is turned off. The robot arm and end effector are moved to position where the first and second clamp structures on the end effector each engage a respective inner edge that in part defines a notch formed in the wafer calibration tool. An actuator driven movable clamp structure is manually advanced so that the movable clamp structure engages an inner edge that in part defines one of the notches formed in the wafer calibration tool. The controller is turned on and data regarding the location of robot arm, end effector and movable clamp structure is stored.

  • Patent number: 5303670
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for metering of a coating agent onto a moving base, such as a paper or board web. The device includes first and second soft-faced applicator rolls defining a coating nip, through which nip a web is passed. The first applicator roll is journalled as fixed on a frame of the device, and the second applicator roll is linked to the frame of the device pivotally by the intermediate of a loading arm or the equivalent. At least one of the applicator rolls is in nip contact with a hard transfer roll, which is further in nip contact with a soft-faced metering roll. A pond of coating agent is located in a metering nip between the metering roll and a transfer roll. As the rolls revolve, the coating agent is transferred through the metering nip onto the face of the transfer roll and from there further through a transfer nip formed by the transfer roll and the applicator roll onto the face of the applicator roll.

  • Patent number: 5203920
Abstract: A coating section for coating a traveling web of material, such as paper, wherein the web to be coated travels along a selected one of two different web paths. There is a lower counter roll and an upper press roll which define a nip between them and the distance apart of the two rolls is adjustable. A respective applicator for coating composition is on each of the first and second sides of the lower roll and on the third side of the upper roll, and the third side is the same side of the coating section as the first side of the lower roll. First web guide rollers guide the web from below, past the counter roll and the first applicator and not through the nip. Second guide rollers guide the web through the nip.

  • Patent number: 4657783
Abstract: A process for effecting the high speed coating (as herein defined) of both sides of a lightweight paper sheet (as herein defined) with coatings of low dry coatweight (as herein defined), while maintaining good coating pattern and control over the degree of curl in the sheet when dried, comprising the steps of:moving an endless transfer surface sequentially through first, second and third stations,at first station, forming on said transfer surface a smooth continuous film of a first coating mix having a predetermined fluid content and rheology,at the second station, bringing a first side of said paper sheet into contact with said transfer surface and simultaneously subjecting the sheet to pressure against said transfer surface without substantial sheet distortion, so as to promote substantially complete absorption by the sheet of the solvent or dispersion medium of the first coating mix while in engagement with the transfer surface and prior to passage of the sheet and transfer surface through the third statio

  • Patent number: 4353324
Abstract: An apparatus particularly adapted and intended for mounting at the side of a vehicle (but capable of being pushed or pulled along by other means), for mechanized painting of both sides, or only one side, of a fence or wall structure. A yoke assembly carrying one or more pairs of opposite paint rollers straddles the fence, and means are provided to allow the yoke to float longitudinally, vertically and laterally, and according to the average running surface of the terrain, while moving along and painting one or both sides of a fence or wall.

  • Patent number: 4106432
Abstract: Apparatus for applying a coating to edges of envelopes. The envelopes are fed from a stack feeding device to a first conveyor which conveys them past a roller which applies the coating to one edge. A dead plate receives the envelopes from the first conveyor and feeds them to a second conveyor which is at right angles to the first conveyor. Applicator rollers are placed on opposite sides of the second conveyor to coat opposing edges of the envelopes.
