Patent number: 7112245Abstract: A planarizing pad for planarizing a microelectronic substrate, and a method and apparatus for forming the planarizing pad. In one embodiment, planarizing pad material is mixed with compressed gas to form a plurality of discrete elements that are distributed on a support material. At least a portion of the discrete elements are spaced apart from each other on the support material to form a textured surface for engaging a microelectronic substrate and removing material from the microelectronic substrate. The discrete elements can be uniformly or randomly distributed on the support material, and the discrete elements can be directly affixed to the support material or affixed to the support material with an adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2004Date of Patent: September 26, 2006Assignee: Micron Technology, Inc.Inventors: Vishnu K. Patent number: 7105204Abstract: The exterior surface of a pipe is coated around its full perimeter without rotation of the pipe or the complete coating apparatus. In one example, the coating apparatus includes coating heads attached to a rotor with the coating material supplied under positive air pressure via a stator. The coating heads rotate with the rotor and eject coating material onto the exterior surface of the pipe. In a second example, the coating apparatus is stationary and coating material is delivered under positive air pressure though chambers within the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2001Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Inventor: John W. Patent number: 7101440Abstract: In an ink jet apparatus for manufacturing a color filter 1, ink jet heads 22 having a plurality of nozzle 27 are disposed in a linear manner. Filter element member is ejected to a motherboard 12 from a plurality of nozzles 27 four times so as to form the filter element 3 in a predetermined thickness. By doing this, it is possible to prevent difference in the thickness in a plurality of the filter elements 3 and to equalize light transparency in planar manner. Thus, in an ejecting apparatus, a color filter can be formed in more common way at low cost and more efficiently. Also, it is possible to provide an ejecting apparatus which can equalize factors such as electrooptical characteristics of the electrooptical members, color displaying characteristics by the liquid crystal apparatuses, and illuminating characteristics by an EL surface.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2002Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Shinichi Nakamura, Yoshiaki Yamada, Tsuyoshi Kitahara, Satoru Katagami

Patent number: 7094291Abstract: A semiconductor processor for spray coating wafers or other semiconductor articles. The processor has a compartment in which are mounted a wafer transfer, coating station and thermal treatment station. The coating station has a spray processing vessel in which a movable spray-head and rotatable wafer holder. The spray station has coating viscosity control features. An ultrasonic resonating spray-head is precisely supplied with coating from a metering pump. The heat treatment station heat cures the coating and then cools the wafer. The system allows coatings to be applied in relatively uniform conformational layers upon irregular surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2001Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Semitool, Inc.Inventors: Timothy J. Patent number: 7090725Abstract: A die, having multiple discharge orifices arrayed in a generally straight line for applying an application fluid to an object of application, and an internal application fluid reservoir, wherein braces are provided in the application fluid reservoir and extending in a direction generally orthogonal to the direction of the array of the discharge orifices. Also, an application apparatus and method for application fluid, for relatively moving a base material wherein stripe-shaped vertical barrier ribs are formed on the surface of the base material and horizontal barrier ribs having a height equal to or lower than the vertical barrier ribs are formed in a direction generally orthogonal to the vertical barrier ribs, and a die provided facing the base material, while discharging application fluid from multiple discharge orifices provided on the die, thereby applying application fluid to selected grooves between the vertical barrier ribs of the base material.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2001Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Toray Industries, Inc.Inventors: Hideki Ikeuchi, Takashi Yoshiyama, Yoshihisa Higashida, Masanori Ueda, Yasuki Shimizu
