  • Patent number: 10472964
Abstract: A piston arrangement is provided. The piston assembly includes a track and a piston moveable within a cylinder. The track is rotatable relative to the cylinder about an axis of rotation and has a cam surface and an edge surface extending away from the cam surface. The piston is coupled to the track by a follower running on the cam surface. The cam surface is shaped such that, as the track moves relative to the cylinder, the piston head moves in reciprocating motion within the cylinder along a piston axis in accordance with the path of the cam surface. The piston axis is perpendicular to the track axis of rotation. A stabilizing element is connected to the piston, the stabilizing element extending below the piston head and comprising a contact surface which engages the edge surface of the track.

  • Patent number: 9784105
Abstract: Disclosed is an offset rotational non-reciprocating-piston internal combustion engine in which an outer ring rotates on a one axis and an inner disk rotates on a second offset axis. Pistons are connected to the outer ring, while cylinders and other devices for operating the engine are mounted within an inner disk that rotates on a second axis that is offset from the axis of the outer ring. The inner disk and outer ring rotate together, such that the pistons create conditions of compression and explosive expansion within the cylinders without vibrating reciprocal piston motion. A unique fuel injection system is also disclosed that provides a variable fuel pressure that is created by centrifugal forces on the fuel. Because of the rotating inner disk and outer ring, advantages are taken of centrifugal force and gravity to distribute fuel, air, oil, high-voltage current, and cooling air in the engine.

  • Patent number: 7451738
Abstract: A Turbocombustion engine for conversation of combustible fuel to rotating energy includes a cylinder, piston, connecting rod and crankshaft system for suction and compression and a rotor for expansion and exhaust. Combustible fuel is compressed within a combustion chamber separate from the cylinder and the combustion force applied directly to the rim of the rotor as in turbines with much larger capacity than the cylinder, converting the entire combustion force at maximum torque to rotating energy. The combustion chamber also includes a variable compression ratio system that constantly adjusts the compression ratio within the combustion chamber for optimum performance of the engine under all variables.

  • Publication number: 20070204831
Abstract: An internal combustion engine operates on a four-stroke cycle and includes a housing defining: one or more generally wedge-shaped combustion chambers, and an internal cavity in which a wheel is mounted for rotation on a crankshaft. Arranged inside each combustion chamber is a gate, with each gate having a corresponding gate control assembly including a control shaft. Each control shaft is supported by bearings that engage and ride in a generally elliptical cam-cutout defined in the surface of the wheel. Movement of the gate control assemblies within and with respect to the elliptical cam-cutout controls the movement and operation of the gates, such that, as the wheel rotates, a fuel/air mixture is drawn into a combustion chamber; compressed by the rotating movement of a gate; and ignited, imparting a force on the gate, with the gate then rotating to expel combustion gases through an exhaust port.

  • Patent number: 5220893
Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine includes a stationary housing having one or more housing slots extending to a housing interface surface and a rotor, having one or more rotor slots extending to a rotor interface surface turning adjacent to the housing interface surface. A piston and an adjacent vane are slidably mounted in each housing slot, and an intake valve is included to open each housing slot to an intake port. A spark plug is mounted in an outer surface angularly adjacent to each housing slot. The rotor includes cam surfaces to impart motion to each intake valve, piston, and vane. As each rotor slot moves adjacent to each housing slot, a vane is moved into the rotor slot and an intake valve is opened. A mixture of air and fuel floods the space of housing and rotor slots outside the piston on one side of the extended vane, while exhaust gasses from previous combustion are forced out of the space on the opposite side of the extended vane, through an exhaust port, by the motion of the rotor.

The pistons are coupled for simultaneous rotation of equal angular velocity, and the working chambers expand and contract cyclically because they are circumferentially bounded by the larger piston sectors and by a sealing arrangement connecting the engaged piston portions.
