Patent number: 8807126Abstract: A sawing rope (270) with abrasive elements (506) fixed on a steel rope (502) with a polymer jacket (504) is described and claimed. The abrasive elements (506) are made of a metallic sleeve on which an abrasive layer is deposited by means of electrolytic deposition, by means of sintering or by means of cladding for example laser cladding. Characteristic about this sawing rope (270) in view of the prior known sawing ropes is that each sleeve shows a connection or closure. Such a connection makes it possible to attach abrasive elements (506) on the rope without having to thread them on the rope (270) as is needed when making prior-art sawing ropes. The inventive sawing rope (270) can therefore be made in long lengths in a very efficient way.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2010Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: NV Bekaert SAInventors: Tom Baekelandt, Roland Groenen, Steven Van Der Linden, Peter Persoone

Crushing arms are pivotally supported on the lower portion of the parallel plate unit, and the crushing are opened or closed in linkage with a piston rod, which extends from the hydraulic cylinder and makes reciprocal movement along the center line. Slide keys located at the tip of the piston rod engage in guide grooves on the parallel plate unit. A ring-like handle member is rotatably mounted on the rotating unit at the upper end of the cylinder unit, and a left grip and a right grip are connected on both ends of the handle member. On the inner periphery of the rotating unit of the handle member, balls are movably embedded at symmetrical positions, and catching recesses to catch the balls are furnished at every predetermined angle on the outer periphery of the rotating unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1990Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Assignee: Takachiho Kogyo Yuugen KaishaInventor: Akihiko Shigemizu

Patent number: 4361130Abstract: A tool for rapidly nibbling at an edge of a glass sheet to shape (groze) the edge without splitting or cracking the sheet is described. The tool has hinged jaw surfaces which are shaped in a V so as to contact only corners at the edge when the jaws are moved towards each other. The tool is used to repeatedly nibble single flakes of glass from the edge and thus rapidly form the desired contour. The tool is particularly adapted to trimming or shaping an edge of stained glass pane for windows and the like, as well as for trimming irregular edges or excess material from sheet window glass which has been scored and then broken.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1980Date of Patent: November 30, 1982Assignees: Mark Talaba, Angela S. Wear resistant alpha alumina article useful to clean magnetic tape and the process of producing said
Patent number: 4114226Abstract: A fracture resistant wearing edge is provided on unicrystalline alpha alumina material by the intersection of planar surfaces which are parallel to m-planes of the unicrystalline alpha alumina. Such planar surfaces intersect at an angle of 60.degree. or 120.degree. and the intersection of such surfaces is an edge substantially parallel to the C-axis of the unicrystalline alpha alumina material.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1977Date of Patent: September 19, 1978Assignee: Union Carbide CorporationInventor: Peter Carter Warren -
Patent number: 4089562Abstract: An asphalt-paving cutter tool, adapted to be driven by a power-operated hammer mechanism, has an upper shank adapted to be received and held in the socket of the hammer mechanism, and a wide lower cutter portion terminating at the lower end in a chisel-like cutting edge. Intermediate the upper shank and the lower cutter portion is a wedging-and-reaction portion having divergently-upward sidewalls inclined at an angle of the order of 15.degree.-35.degree. relative to the vertical. This portion has two functions. It develops a wedging force to widen the cut, and it develops a reaction force in the blade-lifting direction. These two forces facilitate removal of the cutting tool from the asphalt paving after the cut has been made.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1977Date of Patent: May 16, 1978Inventor: Frederick F.
