Patent number: 4338912Abstract: An outdoor cooking grill has a U-shaped support stand comprising a horizontal carrier beam attached to the upper ends of vertical legs; first and second fire grills are suspended from the horizontal carrier beam and are held together by clip connectors so that food, such as meat, is retained between the grill members. First and second fire grates are provided on opposite sides of the grill with each fire grate having one side supported by brackets on the vertical post with the other side being supported by a movable grate connected at an opposite end to an anchor block resting on the ground. Movement of the anchor block toward or away from the grill serves to position the fire grate inwardly or outwardly with respect to the food on the grate to adjust the cooking rate.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1980Date of Patent: July 13, 1982Inventor: Thomas Gaskins

Patent number: 4331125Abstract: This fire starter unit includes a hollow body providing a combustion chamber and formed from identical panels having inwardly bent overlappingly interconnectible side margins. A wire grate disposed within the body is carried by the panels and provides a stiffener for the body. A carrying handle is attached to the overlapping side margins at one corner of the body and the body is configurated to retain a removable grill at the upper end.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1981Date of Patent: May 25, 1982Inventor: Duane L. Patent number: 4282854Abstract: The improved charcoal starter features a tubular housing having upper and lower rims, the latter intended to rest in a barbecue type charcoal burner. A grate is pivoted along its edge to an intermediate portion of the housing and has a leg depending perpendicularly from the opposite edge for a distance equal to the distance between the grate pivot and the lower rim of the housing. A bail-like handle is detachably pivoted to the upper portion of the housing. When the housing is lowered by the handle into the charcoal burner, the burner first contacts the leg and causes the grate automatically to turn to its horizontal position ready to receive charcoal for igniting. Subsequently, when the housing is lifted by the handle, the grate automatically is tilted by gravity to dump the ignited charcoal into the burner. An added feature of the starter is that the handle doubles as a support for a cooking pot so that the starter may be used as a camp stove.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1979Date of Patent: August 11, 1981Assignee: Auto Fire CorporationInventor: Garner B. Patent number: 4186716Abstract: A portable campfire grill employing three identical elongate members constructed of steel or like heat resistant material. Each of the elongate members has a pair of slots, one slot being formed adjacent each end and the respective slots being oriented in opposite directions. The slots have a depth half the width of the member so that when the elongate members are engaged by interengagement at the slots, the opposite surfaces of the elongate members are in coplanar relation thereby forming a triangular shaped grill structure having a flat surface. The slots have a dimension in a direction longitudinally of the members such that the members must be stressed to effect such interengagement so that the triangular structure formed by assembling the three members is retained in assembled, operative condition.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1976Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Inventors: David E.
