Abstract: This invention is a simplification of existing traditional hookah pipe function and is a new design eliminating the need for four or more existing component parts by condensing the function of these multiple component parts down into two interlocking glass composite parts. This invention simplifies assembly and disassembly, and cleaning of the main hookah pipe by having fewer and more accessible parts. This invention seals at the base of the inside of the bowl section and at the top of the ground joint section of the water stem to prevent the leakage of tobacco, smoke or other contaminates from entering into the main hookah pipe from the bottom of the hookah bowl. This product also allows an all glass product to be used in place of traditional mixture of parts and components made of various materials. It requires no other materials other than glass to perform the functions of sealing in and sealing out, hookah tobacco, smoke, from unwanted areas and containing these items in their desired locations.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus and method used for the inhalation of smoke that is created from burning substances in a water pipe or similar, useful for reducing the harshness of smoke, removing toxins from smoke and flavoring smoke. A two stage filtration apparatus originates with a mouthpiece adapted to seal off the opening of the inhalation tube of a typical water pipe. A first stage tubular filter housing is attached to the bottom end of the mouthpiece located inside the inhalation tube. A second stage tubular filter housing is attached to the bottom of the first stage housing. Smoke passes into the second stage housing and through circular second stage then first stage disposable filter medium packets held into place by the filter housings. A method of pressing the lips against the mouthpiece portion seals off the inhalation tube opening and frees both of the user's hands so that one hand can support the water pipe while the other ignites and reignites the burned substance.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Hookah otherwise known as a water pipe or Nargile. The hookah is used to smoke tobacco or other herbs that are heated using a hot charcoal. With multiple tobacco bowls, this hookah allows the user to consume a mixture of smoke from different flavored tobaccos. The various bowls are independent from each other and spaced apart so that the heat from one does not affect the others. The spacing of the bowls also protects the user from burn injuries while replacing the tobacco or charcoal in each bowl. The smoke from each bowl is directed into a stem tube where it is mixed before being filtered and cooled by water in preparation for consumption. Each tobacco bowl can be connected to a flow control device that allows the user to fine tune the amount of smoke from each bowl and achieve the preferred flavor.

Abstract: This apparatus for the smoking of tobacco and other bulk dried material enables those persons who enjoy smoking to do so in a healthier manner. In the described appliance a water bath cools and filters the smoke before it reaches the mouth and lungs of the smoker. An array of, preferably conical, diffusion screens (210) restricts the size of particulate matter passing through the device from the combustion bowl (180) to the user. By controlling air pressures, valves (240) in series with the diffuser (210) prevent water from flowing into it thereby minimizing the pressure a user must apply to draw smoke through the appliance. This keeps solids from accumulating on or in the diffuser which facilitates cleaning. A static turbine (300) in the throat (110) of the appliance aids additional cooling while reducing the amount of suction that must be applied by a user to clear the main chamber.

  • Patent number: 6568400
Abstract: A dual function water pipe includes a water-holding container and serves as a loose leaf tobacco pipe and as a cigarette smoking device. A bowl surmounts the container and a downspout of the bowl extends into the container an extent sufficient to submerge the free end of the downspout. A hollow adapter having a radial bore that holds the unlit end of a cigarette surmounts the bowl. A smoker applies suction to a smoke tube that draws smoke from the cigarette and the structure of the device causes the smoke to follow a path of travel that constrains the smoke to pass through the water before entering the smoke tube, removing some toxins from the smoke. The smoke tube is positioned one hundred eighty degrees from the cigarette and has a telescopically-extended configuration that positions a flame source a safe distance from a user's face.

  • Patent number: 6453908
Abstract: The water pipe has a water chamber as for example a small open mouth bottle into which a stopper may be inserted or attached. The stopper has two ducts therein which are approximately 90 degree ducts. A smoke inlet tube is inserted into an exterior inlet port of the first duct and a smoke dispensing tube is inserted into an interior outlet port. A hollow stem is inserted into an exterior outlet port of the second duct. The water chamber is then partially filled with a fluid, and the stopper is attached at the open mouth upper end of the water chamber. A cigarette may then be inserted into the smoking inlet tube and ignited. When a user inhales at the hollow stem mouthpiece, smoke is drawn into the water chamber and through the fluid to exit the chamber through the hollow stem.

  • Patent number: 6260554
Abstract: A self-extinguishing pipe is described for use with tobacco or other smoking material. The pipe is made in two parts, a body and an endpiece, and holds a filter internally. The endpiece includes a reservoir for the tobacco or other smoking material at one end which has an adjustable base for changing the depth of the reservoir. The two-part construction and adjustable base facilitate cleaning of the pipe, replacement of the filter, and removal of ash without needing additional tools. The depth of the reservoir is adjusted by rotating an inner component of the endpiece in relation to a surrounding cowl. Various bores through the body of the pipe and the components of the endpiece communicate with each other so as to form an air passage from the smoking material to the mouth end of the pipe, thereby allowing smoke to be drawn into the user's mouth.

  • Patent number: 6073632
Abstract: A smoking pipe formed of a spherical body having a top cavity for receiving combustibles, a shank tube receiving cavity, and a mouthpiece tube receiving cavity. An air passage connects the shank tube receiving cavity and the top cavity, and an air passage connects the mouthpiece tube receiving cavity to an exit hole at a lower portion of the spherical body. The shank tube is inserted into the shank tube receiving cavity and the mouthpiece tube is inserted into the mouthpiece tube receiving cavity. The spherical body, when placed over a standard beverage bottle such that the shank tube extends into the bottle interior, forms a substantially air tight seal with the inner rim of the bottle top. Operation as a water pipe is thereby effected.

  • Patent number: 6067993
Abstract: A filter adapter for use with a waterpipe comprises a closure cap with a cutout; a spigot tap with a cylindrical sleeve, an integral port, a cylindrical base with male threads, the port providing communication between the sleeve and the base; and a ventilated filter cartridge containing a filter medium, preferably silica gel granules. The closure cap is frictionally engaged over the smoke passage of the waterpipe. The spigot tap, having been threaded into the cutout of the closure cap, effects the seal between the spigot tap and the smoke passage. The diameter of the sleeve on the spigot tap is a predetermined diameter to allow frictional insertion of a filter cartridge. A ventilated filter cartridge preferably containing silica gel granules as a filtering medium is frictionally engaged into the open end of the sleeve. The spigot tap provides communication between the filter cartridge and the smoke passage.

  • Patent number: 5967147
Abstract: A valved stem apparatus for use on a water pipe used for smoking. The valved stem is formed as an elongated hollow stem provided with a first open end, sized for mechanically interfacing with a pipe bowl assembly component of the water pipe, and with a second open end for being disposed within a liquid container member of the water pipe. The second open end is provided with a retaining structure that extends from the stem structure that delineates an opening at the second open end. A valve member, such as a ball valve, is disposed within the retaining structure such that it can freely travel within the retaining structure towards the opening portion of the second open end upon being submerged in a liquid. The opening portion is formed with a smooth beveled rim surface that conforms to the shape of the outer surface of the buoyant body to effect closure of the opening in a water-tight manner when not being forced open by a person drawing smoke from the mouthpiece.
