Abstract: A combination hairbrush and hair curling system with a bendable, extendable handle and a removable brush head. The handle is constructed so that it can be bent to various positions and it will maintain the desired position until the user wishes to change the position. The extendable and bendable handle makes it easier to style the hair on difficult to reach areas of the head. The detachable brush heads are made in different sizes, shapes and styles for different kinds of hair styling operations. The brush heads are supplied in a variety of shapes, including cylindrical, concave/convex curved, flat/convex, flat/concave, ball-shaped and egg-shaped. The detachable brush heads can be detached from the handle ,and left in the hair as hair curlers. Each style of brush head can also be provided with gripping elements that are shaped like the hook portion of a hook and loop fastener and/or with bristles covering the entire brash head.

Abstract: A combined brush and comb ("brush-comb") is used to apply tones, touches or streaks of hair treatment liquid to human hair. The brush-comb has a curved body portion terminating in a tip, which may be used to part the hair, and a head portion having comb tines and brush tufts positioned close to the tines. Each tine has at least one and preferably a plurality of grooves perpendicular to its axis to retain the liquid and to replenish the liquid to the brush tufts. In operation, the brush-comb head portion is dipped into a container of the liquid and then the head portion is pulled through the hair to apply touches of the liquid to selected areas of the hair.

Abstract: A multi-purpose toiletry article which comprises: a long, rigid, plastic handle; a preferably oval rigid, plastic support head mounted in fixed or pivotal relationship at one end of such handle; and a removable fastener to removably and interchangeably affix one of a multiple of oval working members to said oval support head.

Abstract: A modular brush for applying hair treatment solution in a quasi-random pattern includes a brush body and a plurality of removable rotating bristle modules. The bristle modules have tightly packed bristles that retain different volumes of hair treatment solution, such as dye, after the bristles have been dipped into a supply of the solution. The modules may be arranged to achieve the user-selected pattern of treatment. Movement of the brush causes the bristle modules to rotate, providing a fresh supply of solution to the sections of hair which are contacted by bristles and leaving the sections in their natural color where the sections are between bristle modules or between arrays of bristles on the same module. A locking member can be employed to selectively prevent rotation of the bristle modules. A detent-and-notch arrangement may be used to ensure synchronous rotation of the bristle modules.

Abstract: A pesticide dispensing and grooming brush has an inner tubular wall. The inner tubular wall has a plurality of first ports through the inner tubular wall. The inner tubular wall also forms an open-ended chamber to hold and dispense a pesticide or other animal care product. A locking filler cap is unlockingly secured to a filler end of the inner tubular wall. The locking filler cap has a disc and locking lugs attached to the disc. An actuation lug is attached to a top surface of the disc to assist in turning the disc and to provide access to the first chamber. An outer tubular wall rotatingly surrounds the inner tubular wall. A plurality of second ports extend through the outer tubular wall. A plurality of bristles is attached to and extends outwardly from the outer tubular wall. A handle has a swivel member. A lower surface of the swivel member is attached to one end of the handle. The swivel member is swivelly connected to a swivel end of the inner tubular wall.

Abstract: A modular brush for applying hair coloring in a user-selected pattern includes a brush body and a plurality of detachable bristle modules. Abstract: A hair-curling device has a plurality of substantially cylindrical handleless elements of different diameters each having a central supporting member and a plurality of radially extending bristles. One end of each element can have a hair-separating member, while the other end can have a holding member connectable with a handle. The elements can be arranged radially in engagement with each other to form an oval curl and releasably attached to each other.

Abstract: A tong shape apparatus comprised of a right rod and left rod, each rod having an applicator at its lower ends and upper ends connected by a pivot on a spring action. This method will seal the contents of the dispenser which has a single opening. In between the applicators and pivot, there are blocking members which divide the rods into lower and upper sections. The upper section may be used as a handle. When the tong is in a closed position, applicators, rods and blocking members match to form one unit, which makes insertion into a single opening of the dispenser. The blocking members protect the contents and applicators, and also insure that the upper rods and handles remain above the opening.

Abstract: This invention relates to a hairbrush that comprises bristles or bunches of bristles arranged in parallel rows. The length of the bristles in each row differs from row to row in the direction in which the brush is moved through the hair of a person whose hair is being brushed so as to have the row of longest bristles lift or fluff each successive increment of hair it engages and have the successive rows of successively shorter bristles smooth down each successive increment of hair that has been lifted by the longer bristles in the previous rows that engage the hair.

Abstract: A comb is disclosed that may be used for applying liquid to both scalp and hair and which may is effective regardless of the orientation of the comb. The liquid is retained in the comb in a porous wick-like material and the liquid dispensing teeth are a porous wick-like material so that capillary action ensures a continuous, regulated flow of liquid regardless of the orientation of the comb.

Abstract: An improved hairbrush suitable for use both in general brushing and in conjunction with an air dryer for blow drying and styling hair includes a rigid body having an elongated handle and an elongated brush block or base. The brush block has back and face portions and a body of bristles are mounted on and project from the face. The brush block has a pair of integrally formed air baffles extending one along each side edge portion thereof and projecting in outwardly diverging relation from the face of the block and in outwardly spaced relation to the brush bristles, with the brush block and baffles cooperating to form a concavity or channel for trapping and redirecting a stream of air directed into the hair from one side of the brush by a conventional blow dryer. The outwardly projecting wing-like baffles may also be employed as an aid in molding and shaping the coiffure.

Abstract: Shaped articles, such as hair brushes, combs and hair curlers, for rapid hair drying, molded in whole or in part of graft starch copolymer. Graft starch copolymers, such as base hydrolized starch-polyacrylonitrile, carbohydrate acrylic copolymer, modified carbohydrate derivatives, and combinations of polyacrylate and polyacrylamide, have superabsorbent properties. Graft starch copolymer is a blend of the natural polymer, starch, and synthetic polymers such as acrylamide and sodium or potassium acrylate. When used after a shower or after washing ones hair, these shaped articles, molded from graft starch copolymer, in accordance with the method of the present inventon, will absorb essentially all moisture from the hair, upon contact, in a matter of a few minutes.

Abstract: A hair grooming device includes a brush head surrounded by a rotatable cover member having a lateral opening through which bristles on the brush head are exposable. A handle for the brush head includes a reservoir for a liquid treating agent and communicates through a passage in the brush head with small dispensing holes spaced among the bristles. The cover member is rotatable between a bristle exposed position in which the bristles are exposed through the lateral opening, and a bristle storage position in which the bristles are concealed within the cover member. The cover member has comb teeth thereon adjacent the lateral opening, and seals are provided between the brush head and cover member to prevent leakage of treating agent from the bristles in the bristle storage position of the cover member.

Abstract: A thermal hair styling appliance includes interchangeable attachments, such as hair retaining clips, comb-brush clips or other types of attachments which are selectively attached to an operating button that is pivoted on a handle of the appliance. The appliance further includes a main electric heater which is controlled by a thermostat which, in turn, responds to a pair of auxiliary heaters. By selectively energizing the auxiliary heaters, the temperature of the main heater is controlled. A versatile hair styling appliance is thus provided. According to one embodiment, the operating button includes at least one projection which engages a slot in the end of the attachment being used. The attachment is held within the button by detents which engage other slots in the end of the attachment.

Abstract: A grooming device in the form of a comb element, especially a pocket comb element, having coarse teeth on one end and fine teeth on the other end and a back portion extending along the root ends of the teeth. A brush element is carried on the comb near the inner ends of the fine teeth so that the comb can serve for combing the hair but, also, for brushing. The comb element may also have stiff bristles for use as a nail brush, or an additional nail brush element can be provided. The back portion of the comb may also carry a mirror element and/or a strip of abrasive material or a file element and may also be recessed for detachably receiving a coin, such as a dime. The comb may have a pocket clip connected to the back portion.

Abstract: A cleaner for combs which comprises a generally circular planar head having radially extending bristle tufts and hard rubber elongated tines disposed about different 180.degree. circumferential portions. The head has a pair of spaced apart recesses which lockably receive a pair of spherical knobs upstanding from an elongated handle for securing the head to he handle in either of two opposite angular orientations to selectively expose either the bristle tufts or the elongated members for use.

Abstract: A dandruff removing device detachably provided with a dandruff attracting portion which consists of a curved section thin metal plate coated with a chemical film layer, short lengths of synthetic resin filaments adhered to the outer surface of said layer by means of a binding agent, said portion detachably mounted to the device body through a thread engraved on one surface of the body thereby to remove the small scale flakes of dead skin formed on the head among the hair and the dust attached to the hair by electrostatic force of attraction caused to the filaments when the device is operated in frictional contact with the hair.The invention further involves the art wherein substantially long lengths of filament bristles are set in the other surface of the device body to serve as a general type hair or cloth brush means.
